Distribution of Scholarships / Awards - University
Day - From 2008-09 onwards
It is proposed to adopt the following scheme of scholarship / award distribution from the academic year 2008-2009 onwards.
I. All the awards shall be based on Merit (ie., based on the marks obtained in the examination and as per the rank list furnished by the COE).
II. Details of Award amount to various programmes:--
For all I year to Final year students.
IV.For NRI / Foreign students:
All the under graduate students are eligible for the scholarship. The top 10% meritorious students ( NRI & Foreign ) ( I year to final year ) will be given the Scholarship.
If any student is eligible for the NRI / Foreign Scholarship and the regular scholarship he / she will receive only the one with higher monetary value. This carries a Scholarship of Rs.1000/- (Book Coupon) and a Merit Certificate.
V. Cent Percent Attendance
Regarding the award for the Cent Percent Attendance, statement should reach the Registrar's Office on the last working day of the Fall semester (Attendance details will be collected directly from the CTS department, and not from the Schools, which will sent to the respective school Deans for Certification). and also displayed in intranet for the students information. This carries a Scholarship of Rs.1000/- and a Merit Certificate.
VI Regarding the Financial Assistance to deserving (Economically backward class) students, it is proposed to constitute a committee (Faculty members) which will recommend the deserving students for award of financial assistance. Eligibility Criteria: Annual family income should not exceed Rs.1,00,000/- (One lakh only) Applications are available in Students Record Section.
VII Endowment Award will be distributed during the University Day Celebrations from 2008 - 09 onwards. (50 Students each Rs 1000/- Rs.1000 X 50 = Rs.50,000/-) (Award to the present Final Year students - based on the cumulative Academic performance up to III semester, V semester, VII semester & IX semester as the case maybe ).

- Re-admitted / Re-registered / Debarred candidates are not eligible for
scholarship / award and their names will not be considered for the total
strength calculations.
- Only the candidates who have passed all the examinations in the first
appearance are eligible for Scholarship / Award.
(Supplementary marks are not considered).
- Awards will be given to the students who have more than 75% attendance and
have no disciplinary proceedings against them.
- Scholarship will be awarded for each degree programme for each year (and
not for each batch).
- Students are eligible for ONE SCHOLARSHIP / AWARD ONLY, (except
Chancellor's Gold Medal) even though their names are recommended for other
scholarships.
- External Sponsored Awards to the students will be recommended by the
corresponding schools. Deans may constitute a committee for this purpose.
- Funds received from various Institutions / Organizations / Companies will be
distributed to the First Rank Holder (Best student in the class) combined with
the VIT Award. Two separate Merit Certificates will be issued to the candidate.
Prizes instituted by Industries / Organizations / Companies / Individual
- Mahindra Plexion Gold Medal / Award
- Institution of new award by the Director of IR
- Nicholas Piramal India Ltd.
- Scholarship amount will be deposited to the student' s Bank Account, dispensing with the present system of issuing cheque. All the award winning students should open account with the Indian Bank - VIT Branch to facilitate the above.
II. Details of Award amount to various programmes:--
For all I year to Final year students.
- Scholarship will be awarded to Top 10 students or 10% of the total strength of Branch whichever is less.
- Maximum of 10 and a Minimum of 3 Scholarship will be awarded to each Branch.
