Dr.Hos’ career in TESOL began in Rochester NY, where she taught ESOL for over ten years in bilingual and newcomer programs. She became passionate about her experiences as an immigrant and an ESOL teacher and decided to pursue a doctoral degree. Dr.Hos received her Ph.D. in Teaching & Curriculum with an emphasis in TESOL from University of Rochester in 2012, where she also worked as a visiting professor between 2010-2012. She then served as a department chair and an assistant professor of TESOL at Zirve University in Turkey between 2012-2016. She was an assistant professor of TESOL at Illinois State University’s School of Teaching and Learning during 2017-2018 academic year. Her studies have focused on the experiences of newcomer immigrant and refugee students with interrupted formal education (SIFE) in U.S. secondary schools. Dr.Hos’ research has been published in prominent peer-reviewed journals such as Education and Urban Society and Urban Education.
