About Conference

The International Conference on Nano in Engineering, Science and Technology (i-NEST) is a prestigious event and a part of one of the India’s biggest technical fest called “graVITas’19”, organized by the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) from 11th to 13th October 2019, with an aim of providing an excellent platform for the students, researchers, academicians, engineers, industrial technologists to exchange empirical findings and new ideas on all aspects of Nanoengineering, Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. Nanotechnology is the manipulation of shape and size at nanometre length scale, with a plethora of applications in all domains of science and technology. i-NEST at VIT will be a right platform to discuss on the state-of-the-art research, challenges and future global trends in nanoscience and nanotechnology with a primary focus on trans-disciplinary interactions to discuss on this emerging field. The three-day conference program has been carefully structured to encourage mutual inspiration and fruitful debate among the students and researchers. The conference will feature excellent keynote addresses and a number of invited talks focusing on specific themes.

About VIT

Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) is driven by a collective purpose: to improve life by applying knowledge and to develop a better world through education, research and innovation. VIT has students from all the 29 states of India and more than 41 countries, because of its academic excellence. The curriculum is designed to enable students to think innovatively through applied learning practices. Fully Flexible Credit System (FFCS), Project Based Learning (PBL), fully digitized academic portals and Hackathons / Makeathons assist students in equipping themselves for 2020 job skills, and kindle their interest and curiosity, thereby moulding them to be better problem solvers. VIT ensures that the Teaching-Learning process of the 8th module in every subject is handled by industry experts, wherein students contextualize the concepts in classroom environment. The national and international clubs, chapters at VIT provide arenas to the students to think out of box and excel in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. VIT has strong tie-ups with Industries and Universities of national and international repute. These MoUs provide students greater opportunities to actively engage in research and to enthusiastically pursue higher education in their fields of interest.

VIT is committed to developing the next generation of researchers, scientists and academics through collaborative learning across disciplines. In terms of accreditation and academic rankings, VIT has retained No.1 position among the Private Engineering Institutions in India for the 4th year in a row, amongst the elite universities in the NIRF Ranking.

VIT has been ranked No. 1 private institution in India for Innovation, at the first ARIIA (Atal Ranking of Institutions for Innovation Achievements) 2019 awards by Govt. of India. The world ranking body, QS, has given 4 STAR rating to VIT, thereby making VIT the first educational institution in India to obtain the 4 STAR rating for three consecutive years. Besides, the consortium of industries, FICCI, has honoured VIT for its “Excellence in Faculty” and “Excellence for Internationalization of Education”.VIT has also completed 3 cycles of NAAC accreditation and has been rated an “A” grade. To add on to the credentials, VIT has obtained the coveted ABET accreditation by the US agency.

VIT has the record of having published the maximum number of research papers indexed to Scopus Research Journals on par with the premier institutions for the last three consecutive years. VIT has always been keen in establishing and providing knowledge platform for innovative partnerships with all companies in various sectors. VIT extends its strong support to individual researchers as well as research groups by offering research grants to excel and promote interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research works. A large proportion of the research is carried out in association with the government organizations in India and abroad. VIT focuses on collaboration between related disciplines, industries across thrust areas: to broaden the understanding of nature, to solve major engineering problems, to revolutionize data science and to improve health and well-being.

Places To Visit

Vellore is a popular and one of the oldest cities of South India. It is the administrative headquarters of Vellore district in Tamil Nadu situated on the banks of Palar River. Vellore is popularly known as the Fort City of Tamil Nadu. The name Vellore also means a City of Spears. Vellore has an enriching legacy reflecting the early Dra vidian culture. It has been ruled by the Pallavas, Cholas, Vijayanagara Empire, Rashtrakutas, Carnatic kingdom and the British.

Vellore has many historic and religious attractions. The famous Sripuram Sri Lakshmi Golden Temple is situated near Vellore. The Vellore Fort is prime attraction in the town completely made of granite stone.

The Fort might have been built during the rule of Chinna Bommi Nayak (1526 to 1595 AD). The Fort is one of the most perfect specimens of Military architecture in South India. The Jalakandeswarar Temple inside the Fort is a very fine example of Vijayanagar architecture.

The other important attractions of Vellore includes the Clock Tower, the State Government Museum, the French Bungalow, Science Park, Vainu Bappu Observatory, Amirthi Zoological Park, Big Mosque, St. Johns Church and the Pearl Palace.
