Eligibility & Student Verification

  • This competition is exclusively for currently enrolled students (recognized college or university).
  • A clear scan or photo of a valid Student ID Card (issued by a recognized college or university) is mandatory.
  • The ID card must be uploaded to the official Google Form alongside the entry. Submissions without a valid ID will be disqualified.

Entry Fee & Submission

  • The last date for submission is 5th March 2026.
  • An Entry fee of INR 2,000 (Including GST) per entry (non-refundable). Complete the payment process at the official VIT events portal.
  • Online submission is via the official Google Form https://forms.gle/nBB6K2SQKcJf9AAT8. A screenshot of the payment confirmation must be attached to the form (ensure the transaction ID is visible).
  • Upload the film to your Google Drive. Submit the link to Google Drive (open access) in the Google Form.
  • The film must be the original work of the student(s). Students must hold the rights to all music and visual assets used.
  • Multiple registrations/submissions are allowed. One member can register on behalf of the entire team.
  • Films in any language are welcome, but English subtitles are mandatory.
  • Entry Forms with incorrect / inadequate / illegible / ambiguous particulars will not be considered. The committee reserves the right to accept or refuse any film without assigning any reason whatsoever.
  • Films once selected & submitted for final screening will not be allowed to be withdrawn under any circumstances until the competition is over. The jury's decision is final.

Technical Specifications

  • Only .mov or .mp4 files format will be accepted.
  • The resolution of the file has to be Minimum 1080p (Full HD) up to a maximum of 4K.
  • Duration of the film must be limited to a Minimum of 2 mins & Maximum of 30 mins including credits.

Selection Process

  • Winners are selected by a judging panel of industry professionals.
  • All films are judged equally based on Content Originality, Production, Post-Production, and Sound Quality.
  • The decision of the selection committee is final. No correspondence will be entertained regarding the selection process or results.
  • MAGX '26 Committee will use its best efforts to announce the selected films, winners at the designated time, but will not be held liable for any unforeseen delays.
  • MAGX '26 Authorities reserve the right to accept or reject any film that is likely to offend sentiments, feelings or sensibilities of any caste, community, religion and sector.
  • MAGX '26 Committee will have the right to screen (maximum 5 screening) in different cities of India on non-commercial basis. For promotional / publicity purposes, excerpts from any film entered in the festival may be shown on any Television network / Internet or related media during the festival period.
  • Entrant agrees to be bound by all terms of these official Competition rules and regulations as established herein. The MAGX '26 Short Film Competition reserves the right to extend the Competition deadline for any unforeseen reasons if needed. Entry constitutes permission to use the winner's name, likeness, and voice for future advertising and publicity purposes without additional compensation.

Legal Implications

  • Short films must be the entrants’ original work and shall not infringe on any copyrights or any other rights of any third parties.
  • Contestants agree that they have obtained all required permissions regarding music, sound and/or images presented in your short film. By entering the Competition, the entrant agrees that the MAGX '26 Short Film Competition committee will not be held liable for any copyright infringements perpetrated by you or your short film.
  • The MAGX '26 Short Film Competition reserves the right to not screen any film(s) for any reason it deems valid.
  • The MAGX '26 Short Film Competition committee will not be held liable for any copyright infringements perpetrated by you or your short film.
  • The entrants may also run the risk of being prosecuted as per the Indian Criminal Procedure Code and the Indian Media Law for any offence or infringement. Racial, religious and regional discrimination shall not be portrayed.
  • MAGX '26 Short Film Competition organizing, selection committee members, juries are not allowed to participate in respective festival as a contestant.
  • Entrants will retain all ownership rights to their films submitted.
