6.4.1.2. Uninterrupted Teaching Learning Process during Pandemic

Uninterrupted agricultural education during the COVID-19 pandemic was implemented through

the online platform MS Teams. Every lecture was handled online and the recorded classes were
uploaded to the Internal Learning Management System (LMS) Platform - V-TOP for students’

reference. Guest lectures were conducted online for all the courses to keep the students active in

learning the subjects. Practical experiments were given to the students at the household level and
nearby fields (Eg. Sample collection, insect collection, herbariums, survey, etc.). Assignments in

whichever course is possible were based on mini-projects done by students at home. Design
projects and video assignments were also given during the pandemic period. Some examples are:

               1. Collection and rearing of insect pests from different field and horticulture crops from their
               own backyard/ kitchen garden.

               2. Collection and identification of stored product pests from their kitchen.

               3. Management of stored product pests using simple bio-ingredients at home.
               4. Management of sucking pests using botanicals in terrace gardening.

               5. Development of insect traps using waste materials and analysing their efficacy.
               6. At home plant pathology – observation of disease symptoms in home garden plants and post-

harvest diseases in food produce at home.
               7. Visit to nearby crop fields and observation of disease symptoms.

               8. The students were encouraged to take a snap and analyse the soil erosion happening in their

farm or garden around their homes.
               9. A foot survey was done by the students of their garden, farm or apartment to understand the

               surveying techniques and area measurements.

               10. Students were exposed to Dr. Edward De Bono “Six thinking Hats” and they used this
concept to discuss about the various aspects of different environmental problem. This thinking

process helped them to think holistically about a problem and come up with effective solutions.
               11. Students with farm animals at home demonstrated the different management practices as self

               - explained videos with live farm demonstrations.
               12. Virtual interactions were organised with real life experiences.

               13. Experiments in the field were done by the faculty and video captured and shared them with

               the students. https://youtu.be/SlFJRmRa3Tg
