Project Description

Systematic analysis of the binding nature of small molecules, peptides, proteins, nucleic acids with different structural as well as functional features to other proteins, nanoparticles (NPs) of varying size, shape, and charge will enhance our existing understanding of protein-protein, NP-Nucleic acid and NP-protein interactions. Thermodynamic and kinetic quantities measured from Dynamic light scattering (DLS) technique will assist us to measure the interaction quantitatively and to understand the nature of forces operating in forming protein-protein, DNA-Np and protein-Np conjugates. This study will gain understanding of the influence of external parameters like temperature, and pH on the NP-protein interaction will help us to develop advance drug delivery application. It will provide quantitative measures about the interaction of biologically relevant molecules with the nano/micro surfaces to gain the fundamental understanding in sensorial, diagnostic and therapeutic applications. We will also investigate various adsorption models to explain the adsorption at solid/liquid and liquid/liquid interfaces.
