Project Description

The cool pigment with the capacity of absorbing less solar energy in infrared radiation can effectively reduce the interior temperature. Most of the coloured inorganic pigments (chromium green, cobalt blue, cadmium yellow, nickel titanate yellow and lead chromate yellow) encompass toxic metal ions and hence their consumption is being restricted. So, development of an environmental friendly inorganic pigments is highly essential. One of the objectives of the work is to synthesize novel phosphate pigments by precipitation method and to characterize using various techniques. The other objective is to study the colour coordinates and NIR solar reflectance of the synthesized compounds. Finally, the chemical stability, thermal stability, effect of mineralizer on the colour and NIR reflectance will be studied using the synthesized compounds.
