Project Description

It has been reported that anti-hangover sulfur containing natural chemicals like S-adenosyl methionine, methyl sulphonyl methane (MSM), taurine has beneficial effects through anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative and other signaling activities against multiple metabolic dysfunctions like diabetes and obesity. In addition to the protective role in metabolic dysfunctions, even the experimental liver injury for instance, induced in transgenic mice during tumorigenesis process is effectively attenuated by sulfur rich MSM. However, the protective roles which sulfur containing anti hangover compounds exerted via sulfur metabolism on hepato-pancreas are not clearly understood. Sulfur based trans-sulfuration, methionine cycle and glutathione (GSH) synthesis are important for detoxification, glucose regulation and for epigenetic roles. Our objective is to check the preventive supplementation in alcohol, through sulfur signaling, for rejuvenatory-role of target organs liver and pancreas.
