Project Description

(1) Design of suitable metal catalyst, based on the principle of metal ligand cooperativity, bifunctional modes and protonation/deprotonation principles, construction of robust N-heterocyclic imine based pincer ligand for molecular catalysis, syntheses of metal complexes and their characterization by different analytical techniques including structural elucidation.
(2) In addition, metal-free catalytic systems will be developed, to circumvent the problems associate with precious metal, such as their prices, and/ or toxicity.
(3) Detailed mechanistic investigation of the catalytic reactions through a host of kinetics, deuterium labelling experiments and theoretical calculations.
(4) Structure-catalytic activity correlation, catalyst engineering and evolution, leading to conclusion and future projections.
