20. While VIT is performing in all 17 SDGs, it has made substantial contributions in SDG 3 (Good
Health and Well-Being), SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and SDG 9 (Industry,
Innovation and Infrastructure). The ‘Green Vellore’ program contributes to a clean environment
in the town and the STARS (Support the Advancement of Rural Students) program has helped
more than 1800 students with full scholarships.

WEAKNESSES
1. Mega Research funding from extramural sources like Government agencies, Industries etc. can
increase.
2. Faculty quarters are yet to be constructed at the Chennai campus to facilitate a 24/7 work
culture.
3. Expedition of a Research Park in the Chennai campus and “Industry on campuses” in both
campuses need to be addressed.
4. Courses / Programmes on AI/AR-VR/ML/3D Printing/Data science etc, need to be
strengthened.
5. Strengthening of all Research Centres and CoEs with international level researchers possessing
domain strength and mentors.
OPPORTUNITIES
1. To Develop a ‘Green Governance’ framework to promote energy efficiency and sustainability.
2. Build Partnership with Quality Assurance networks like the International Network for Quality
Assurance Agencies in Higher Education.
3. Creation of Endowments with donations from Alumni, Industries, Philanthropists, Charities,
Corporates agencies etc., for the institution of Chair Professorships, Endowment Lectures and
Labs.
4. VIT’s global revenue from international students and collaborations with 552+ Foreign
Universities can boost VIT’s financial portfolio.
5. IPR generated to be transacted with National and International Industries for technology
transfer and commercialization.
6. Smart Campus initiatives to be expedited by (a) implementing IoT based classroom attendance
systems, (b) transition of encryption-based academic record maintenance (c) providing a full-
fledged AI-driven Chatbot to assist various online services.
7. The Career Development Centre (CDC) to to increase industries and multinational companies
(MNCs) for placement interactions and for effective preparation of students for placement with
the help of alumni, industry certifications and training in top code matching tools.
