STRENGTHS
1. VIT has achieved highly commendable Accreditation through eight different agencies and
Ranking by NIRF. It is reaccredited by NAAC securing an A++ Grade and a CGPA of 3.66.

VIT has been ranked 10 in NIRF under the University category, Shanghai Rankings: 501–600
(2024); Times Higher Education Rankings: 601–800 (2025); QS World University Rankings:

791–800 (2025); QS Sustainability Ranking: VIT is ranked at 396 globally and 8 in India.
2. Six UG programs — Chemical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering (Vellore &
Chennai), Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering (Vellore
& Chennai) — have been awarded six-year Tier 1 NBA accreditation (AY 2025-26 to 2030-
31).
3. VIT has dynamic IQAC in both campuses and the institutional activities are well integrated
through the IQAC portal with complete e-Governance.
4. VIT has many MoUs (552 as of the date) with foreign Universities facilitating dual, and
twinning programmes facilitating student and faculty mobility, credit transfer facilities, joint
publications and collaborative projects.
5. Expansion of VIT into a multidisciplinary Deemed university with curricular reforms.
6. VIT has the hallmark of academic innovation by adopting the fully flexible credit system
(FFCS), incorporating the provision of choice of courses, choice of teachers and choice of slots,
providing 100% academic freedom for the students.
7. VIT faculty and students have published 58,190 Scopus-indexed publications with an ’h’ index
of 221 as of March 2025.
8. In the last 10 years (2014-2024), VIT has had 165 patents granted along with 900 patents in the
published status.
9. There are two functional incubators, one at the Vellore campus sanctioned by DST as a
Technology Business Incubator (TBI) and VNEST at the Chennai campus.
10. While the startups at Vellore–TBI and Chennai–V-NEST have produced nearly 100 products, 5
patented products have been commercialized to industries so far.
11. The VIT Campuses allocated Rs.3.5 crores/year as grants for student startup support when they
are pre-incubatees.
12. Both the campuses are Wi-Fi enabled throughout all areas of the university, including hostels
and other students’ usable places. 25 Gbps connectivity in Vellore campus and 15 Gbps
connectivity in Chennai campus with necessary internet bandwidth enabling seamless
connectivity for e-learning, research library and administration.
13. The total revenue of VIT is around Rs.3000 crores and the same is liberally ploughed back
judiciously for creating new infrastructure like research centres, students’ classroom
complexes, strengthening the existing infrastructure and students’ facilities.
14. One of the primary achievements of HR is faculty retention. Many of the VIT faculty and staff
have more than four decades of continuous service at VIT, depicting the high level of faculty
satisfaction.
15. 21 National and 39 International functional Alumni chapters in 15 countries with a current
Alumni membership of 1,35,000 depicts the VIT Alumni Association as a global entity.
16. VIT has more than 35% of its total area with greenery, like lawns and trees- 12,000 trees inside
the campuses make the environment 3 degrees cooler than the nearby town.
17. Solar rooftop PV generates 10% of total electricity consumption.
18. The salient placement data are companies per year: 800+; average salary: 9.9 LPA; highest
CTC: 1.02 Cr; Number of super dream offers: 3000+.
19. VIT has made significant research output in the area of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
with 6775 publications.
