About Us

About the VIT

Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) was founded in 1984 as Vellore Engineering College by honorable Chancellor Dr. G. Vlswanathan. VIT attracts students from different states of India and other countries because of Its academic excellence. In the NIRF ranking 2022, which are published by the Government of India, VIT have placed it, in the 9th position for the best university, the 10th position for the best research, and the 12th position for the best engineering institution in India. VIT is the first institute in India to receive a QS 4-Star rating in the overall category and a QS Star rating in teaching, employability, facilities, innovation and inclusiveness. VIT has been ranked within the top 200 universities in Asia as per the QS Asia University Rankings 2022. VIT has been ranked among the top 601-700 universities in the world and one of the top 3 institutions in India as per the Shanghai ARWU Ranking 2022. VIT has also completed the 4th cycle of NAAC accreditation and has been rated as an "A++" grade institution. VIT has introduced many innovations in academic processes that add value to every student. FFCS (Fully Flexible Credit System), PBL (Project Based Learning) for better learning, fully digitized academic portals that assist students in preparing for the market place. Hack-a-thon, Make-a-thon, Math-a·thon, Stat-a-thon as part of the curriculum exercise that kindles the interest and curiosity of students and motivates them to be better problem solvers are a few of the innovations that VIT has introduced.

About the School of Advanced Sciences

The School of Advanced Sciences at VIT comprises Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry departments. The school offers two years Masters, five-years Integrated Masters, and Ph.D. programmes in all these disciplines. The school comprises qualified and research oriented faculty members whose expertise is in the frontier areas of the sciences. The Semester Abroad Program (SAP) offers students international exposure to prepare effectively for professional employment or a research degree in the basic and applied sciences. SAS faculty members have received national and international recognition for projects that are financially supported by some of the leading funding agencies such as NBHM, UGC, CSIR, DRDO, OST, DBT, and others. In addition, they have published international research papers and filed patents.

About Department of Mathematics

Mathematics is an essential component of all Engineering disciplines. The Mathematics department has around 131 faculty members who support the other engineering departments through teaching and are also actively involved in academic research in frontier areas. The department offers M.Sc. Data Science (2 years), M.Sc. Business Statistics (2 years), Integrated M.Sc. Computational Statistics and Data Analytics(5 years), Integrated M.Sc. in Mathematics (5 years) and Ph.D. programmes in frontier research areas.

About the VIT Mathematical Meet - 2023

VIT Mathematical Meet - A National Level Math contest for school Students is a mega annual event organized by the Department of Mathematics, School of Advanced Sciences, and VIT in order to create and encourage the mathematical inventiveness in young minds at the school level. The Department of Mathematics of VIT is delighted to proclaim the VIT Mathematical Meet - 202.3, the 27th Annual Celebrations of the VIT Mathematics Association, to be held at Technology Tower, VIT, Vellore on 7th , January, 2023 (Saturday) from 7:00 A. M. to 5:00 P. M.
In daily life, math is incredibly helpful. Every day, we apply mathematical ideas and the skills we develop from solving arithmetic problems. We can identify relationships, comprehend patterns, and make future predictions using mathematics. It aids us in carrying out a variety of crucial daily tasks. The language of life, mathematics, is used in practically every facet of living. We can identify relationships, comprehend patterns, and make future predictions using mathematics. All vocations in the world depend on mathematics. The application of math and numbers to many facets of life is crudal. The language of science is math. It is used to advance and explain the theories of other branches of science, particularly those in physics, chemistry, astronomy, geography, etc.

Registration

Instructions for Registration

  • Events will be conducted for both Tamil and English medium students separately and awards / certificates will be given accordingly.
  • The Registered teams/students should report at 7 .30 A.M. on 07. 01. 2023 at the venue.
  • For Team events (Quiz and Model), maximum three students are allowed per team and there is no restriction on number of teams per school.
  • For individual events (Talent Exam and Mathematical Essay), no limit for the number of participants from each school.
  • One student can participate in ONLY ONE EVENT.
  • TA/DA will not be paid.
  • Lunch and Snacks will be provided for all participants.
  • Registration tees shall be paid either by online https://events.vit.ac.in/or by DD drawn in favour of 'VITMM-2023, Vellore Institute of Technology' payable atVellore. Please avoid Spot Registrations. Spot Registration tee is Rs. SO/· extra with the regular fee.
  • The paid registration fee will not be refunded at any circumstances.
  • A common DD may be drawn on behalf of all the participants from each school.
  • Please submit/send the dully filled Registration Form (School name and its location in detail) along with the DD on or before OS. 01. 2023 (Thursday) in person/by courier/by post to the following mailing address:

Instructions for Accommodation

  • Accommodation facility will be provided for outside participants and their accompanying persons upon request Requirements have to be mentioned in the Registration form and thus the coordinating team can arrange the accommodation in the VIT Hostels on the basis of nominal payment. Once the regi.stration is done, hostel accommodation tee and contact details for accommodation will be intimated to the participants through their registered mail / phone.

  • If the outside participants and their accompanying persons are in need of accommodation facility in our VIT campus, please mention your requirements in the Registration form so that we can arrange the accommodation in our VIT Hostels on the basis of nominal payment. After registering your participation, hostel accommodation fee and contact details for accommodation will be intimated to you through your registered mail / phone.
