ABOUT THE VIT MATHEMATICAL MEET - 2025 (VITMM-2025)

The VIT Mathematical Meet, a prestigious national competition for school students, is an annual event organized by the Department of Mathematics, School of Advanced Sciences, VIT, Vellore. This initiative aims to foster mathematical creativity and innovation among young minds at the school level. The Department is excited to announce the VIT Mathematical Meet - 2025, marking the 29th Annual Celebration of the VIT Mathematics Association, which will be held at VIT, Vellore on January 25th, 2025 (Saturday) from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Mathematics plays a crucial role as the foundation for numerous fields, including Science, Engineering, Technology, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Business, Management, Economics, and Social Sciences. It is the only discipline where knowledge builds progressively, making it essential for higher learning. This event will provide participants with opportunities to face challenges, apply their knowledge, and enhance their competitive skills. Additionally, as every meaningful pursuit in life involves some level of pressure, the competition will teach students how to manage it effectively. Math contests offer valuable social and intellectual experiences, and the goal of this meet is to inspire students to develop a lasting passion for mathematics.

  • We invite a team of students accompanied by a teacher advisor(s) / staff incharge( s) / parent(s) from all schools to participate in the VIT Mathematical Meet - 2025 and request you to experience a Great Day with us in VIT, Vellore.

ABOUT THE VELLORE INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (VIT)

Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) was founded in 1984 as Vellore Engineering College by Chancellor Dr. G. Viswanathan. Known for its academic excellence, VIT attracts students from all across India and over 60 countries. In recognition of its achievements in academics, research, and extracurricular activities, the institution was granted University status in 2001 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. ABOUT THE SCHOOL OF ADVANCED SCIENCES (SAS)

The School of Advanced Sciences (SAS), established in 1984, encompasses the Departments of Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. The school’s vision is to provide high-quality teaching and research that has a global impact. It boasts a dedicated and dynamic faculty of 269 members, with 132 in Mathematics, 63 in Physics, and 74 in Chemistry. The faculty’s expertise is reflected in their research output, publications, and productive collaborations with industry. The school offers Master's programs in Data Science, Business Statistics, Physics, and Chemistry, as well as Integrated Master's programs in Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, and Computational Statistics & Data Analytics. Additionally, the school provides Ph.D. programs in the current research areas of Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS

The Department of Mathematics at VIT was founded in 1984 and aims to be recognized for its excellence both nationally and internationally. With a dedicated team of 133 faculty members, the department plays a vital role in supporting other engineering disciplines through teaching, while also engaging in active research across various fields of mathematics. The department offers Ph.D. programs in key areas of Mathematics, Statistics & Data Science, and offers postgraduate degrees including M.Sc. (Data Science), M.Sc. (Business Statistics), Integrated M.Sc. (Mathematics), and Integrated M.Sc. (Computational Statistics and Data Analytics). Emphasizing a well-rounded curriculum at the undergraduate, graduate, and research levels, the department is committed to advancing foundational research, fostering innovative, high-quality studies, and positioning itself as a leading research hub globally. The Department of Mathematics, part of the School of Advanced Sciences (SAS) at VIT, has achieved a QS world university ranking of 201-250 (International) and 7-8 (National) by subject. It has also received financial support from the Department of Science and Technology (DST-FIST), Government of India, with an allocation of Rs. 2.71 Crores.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR MATHEMATICAL EVENTS

  • The registered teams/students should report at 07.30 am on January 25, 2025 in VIT, Vellore.
  • The Talent Examination Event will be conducted for Tamil and English medium students separately and prizes/certificates will be given accordingly. Other events are common for both Tamil and English medium students.
  • Each team must consist of exactly 3 members for team events (Quiz, Model Exhibition and Poster Presentation).
  • There is no limit for the number of participants/teams from each school.
  • The participants should bring all aids/materials/equipment/charts required for Mathematical Model Exhibition.
  • The poster presentation team participants can showcase their ideas by using printed posters or designed charts. Expected Poster Size: 3 Feet (Height) X 3 Feet (Width).
  • TA/DA will not be paid for any participants and accompanying persons
  • Lunch, Tea and Snacks will be provided for all participants.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR REGISTRATION

  • The registration fee shall be paid either by online portal.
  • The school teacher/staff in-charge can do bulk payments through the aforementioned online portal for all the participants of the concerned school.
  • The paid registration fee will not be refunded at any circumstances.
  • Spot registration is NOT ALLOWED.
  • One student can participate in ONLY ONE EVENT.
  • Each school should nominate and mention the details & contact number(s) of the teacher advisor(s)/staff in-charge(s) in the registration form for authorized communication.
  • The registration form can be downloaded from the event website.
  • Please submit/send the duly filled and signed Registration Form along with the Online Payment Receipt on or before 05:00 pm of 20th January 2025 by courier/by post to the following mailing address:

ACCOMMODATION

INSTRUCTIONS FOR ACCOMMODATION

The accommodation facility will be provided for outstation participants and their accompanying persons upon the prior request. The accommodation requirements should be mentioned in the Registration Form, so that the concerned team can arrange the accommodation facility in and around VIT campus on the basis of additional payment. Once the registration process is completed, the accommodation fee and contact details will be intimated to the registrants through their registered e-mail / phone number.
