About NSD
Every year since 1987, National Science Day is celebrated on 28th February to honor the great Indian Physicist Sir. C. V. Raman who won the Nobel prize of Physics. It was on this day in 1928, his discovery of the Raman Effect came to light at Indian Association for the Cultivation of Sciences, Kolkata. This breakthrough discovery brought the first Nobel prize in science for our country in 1930. Hence, the nation celebrates it as the National Science Day, an important day for Indian Scientific Community. It is a day to innervate young minds and to impart scientific spirit.

Quiz
- Quiz Category I: For M.Sc. and Ph.D. Students
(Venue: Sarojini Naidu Gallery, SJT, Time:- 2:00 pm-3:30 pm)
• This is a team event, maximum 3 students per team are allowed
• The questions will be based on undergraduate physics
• If the number of teams is large, there will be a preliminary round to select top 6 teams for the final round
• The participants will not be allowed to use mobile or other electronic instruments during the quiz
- Quiz Category II: For B.Tech 1st year and Int. M.Sc. Students
(Venue: Sarojini Naidu Gallery, SJT, Time:- 11:00 am-1:00 pm)
• This is a team event, maximum 3 students per team are allowed
• The questions will be based on high school physics/ 1st year undergraduate physics
• If the number of teams is large, there will be a preliminary round to select top 6 teams for the final round
• The participants will not be allowed to use mobile or other electronic gadgets during the quiz
Treasure Hunt
(Venue: TT436, Technology Tower Time: 11:00 am - 1:00 pm)
- This event is open to all students
- It is a team event with a minimum two or a maximum three members per team
- Topic: Basic Physics based topics
- The participants will not be allowed to use mobile or other electronic gadgets during the event time
Extempore- The Physics Prop Challenge
(Venue: TT420, Technology Tower, Time: 11:00 am - 1:00 pm)
- This event is open to all students
- It is a team event with maximum three/minimum two members per team
- Physics based topics will be given on the spot
- Students will be given 90 minutes to do a demonstration based on the topic given
- Evaluation will be based on demonstration and explanation of concept

Chem Quiz
- for MSc students
- Only team entries are allowed, and the team shall consist of two persons.
- The participants shall not be allowed to use mobile or other electronic instruments during the quiz time.
Learn Chemistry with Fun (ChemAd)
- B.Tech 1st year and Int. MSc
- It is a team event. Each team can have a maximum of 5 members only.
- Topics will be given on the spot.
- Each team will have 10 mins of preparation time.
- The Ad should be no longer than 2 minutes.
- Chem Ads shall be judged on the basis of spontaneity, content, adherence to the topic, on-stage presentation, scientific accuracy , coordination, creativity and overall appeal.
ChemCollage
- Only for PhD students
- Team shall consist of minimum two members maximum 4.
- Theme for collage shall be given on the spot.
- Time limit for collage making shall be 1½ hour.
- No mobile or Internet means would be allowed to use at the time of Competition.
- Only chart papers will be provided from the School, All other material must be brought by the participants. Paper, Magazines, Glue, Scissor, Sketch Pen/colours etc. to be brought by participants.
- Scholars from any Discipline can register.

- Talent Search Examination for PhD students
- This event is for individual participant
- Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) with No negative marking
- Topics: Aptitude test, Algebra, Analysis, Statistics, Differential Equations and Graph Theory
- The participants shall not be allowed to use mobile or other electronic instruments during the event time
