VIT Community Radio 90.8 MHz

VIT Community Radio (CR) 90.8 MHz, it’s a new identity for the empowerment of Vellore to offer informative
programmes which will improve the lifestyle of the people with a tagline “Engage, Evolve, Empower”. First
Test Transmission was started from 01st September, 2013.

Technical Facilities:

VIT Community Radio has full‐fledged acoustic studios for Recording and Live Programmes. This studio
facilitated with recording studio with talkback, transmission booth for transmission control and editing section
for post‐production. Our broadcast covers 15 kilometers aerial from VIT University.

Special Programmes (2016 ‐ 17):

VIT Community Radio broadcast observing special days with its special programmes from experts, participants and
students and community people. The following days were observed by VIT Community Radio in its broadcast.

 Live broadcast of the Republic Day Flag Hoisting Ceremony at VIT by Khushwant Fatnani, Mohit and Govindaraji on 26
January 2016.
 Riviera Express, a special promotional series was produced and broadcast from 21.01.2016 to 07.02.2016
 Live show from Greenos was done on behalf of International Women’s Day 2016.
 Participated in the Sixth National Community Radio Sammelan 2016.
 VIT University’s 31st Annual Convocations were broadcast live on VIT Community Radio.
 A Special Karuthukalam was produced on the occasion of “New‐year 2016” and it broadcast on 1st January 2016.
'InovIT 2016 Science Exhibition' event was anchored and produced from on 9th January, 2016.
 Bhogi Special Interview with Dr. Natarajan, Co2 was anchored and broadcasted on 14th January, 2016.
 VIT University Pongal Festival Celebration 2016 roundup was produced and broadcasted on 15th January 2016.
 A Special Karuthukalam was produced on the occasion of “Mathematical Meet 2016” and it broadcast on 23rd January
2016.
 Anchored live programme in VIT University on Republic Day – 2016.
 Riviera 2016 Expo Live broadcast, live promotional programmes were done. Riviera Team members and VIT
Teamspeak Club members were jointly participated in the live broadcast.
 Special Anubava Medai programme with Mrs. Manimegalai and Vallunar Paarvai with Mrs. Meena Varaivan was
anchored and produced on International Women’s Day – 8th March 2016.
 Special Live Programme for CSRDS and VIT University Job Fair 2016 was broadcasted on 23rd March 2016.
 A Special Q‐Charge was organized to make pre‐election voter awareness among the voters on 06th April 2016.
 Coordinated ‐ Q‐Charge Marathon 2016 (14th April to 23rd April 2016) including ten days of live programmes. Live
outdoor Broadcast Bytes were done.
 Tamilnadu Assembly General Election 2016 Promos were Produced and broadcasted from 11th May 2016.
 Independence Day Special Programmes broadcast was done on 15th August 2016. For this programme VIT
Community Radio invited students from 15 Schools in and around Vellore. Quiz, Talk, Song and Drama were conducted,
produced and broadcast on 15th August 2016 as special programmes. Winners received their certificates and prizes
from our Chancellor during the flag hoisting ceremony.
 A Special Karthukalam was produced and broadcasted on the occasion of a Blood Donation Camp at Sri Narayana
Thirumana Mandapam, near Chitoor Bus Stand conducted by BLESSED ARAKATTALAI and Christian Medical College,
Vellore on 28th August, 2016.
 Coordinated ‐ Special Manvaasanai of Uzhavar Kalanjiyam 2016 Exhibition.
 Special Pallikoodam Programme from the Students of Panchyat Union Middle School, Kalinjur, Mottur was
produced on Teacher’s Day 5th September 2016.
