MAGX is organized every year by faculties and students of Multimedia and Animation Programme of SITE School, Vellore Institute of Technology. MAGX is a two-day interdisciplinary educational experience, a forum for media and entertainment in digital media, immersive realities, emerging interactive technologies, advanced mobile systems, and hands-on opportunities for creative collaboration. About VIT

Rules and Regulations
Following are the rules & regulations for the MAGX ’18 - Photography Competition organized by the Department of Multimedia – School of Information Technology & Engineering (SITE), VIT, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India.
Submission
By participating in this event, the participant acknowledges and accepts all the rules and regulations.
Only photos taken after JANUARY 2018 are allowed for the competition.
Participants must follow basic ethical and legal standpoints in their submissions and not violate or offend issues such as human rights or environmental protection.
All submissions must be untagged and free of any form of signature, initial or logo that the photographer may have added.
The panel holds the authority to turn down or reject any submission without having to give notice or explanation to the submitter of the photograph.
The competition is open for only students. Entry has to be submitted along with college ID CARD copy.
Entry Fee
The Entry form/Application will be considered only on receipt of photographic submission entry fee of Rs.590 (Inclusive of 18% GST) within India.
Submission
Regular submissions open for all participants of the event from 1st July 2018 and ends on 10th August 2018.
Participation is accepted from students within the country.
Competitors are permitted to submit ONE photograph per category available.
Photographs submitted must be in JPEG format and be no less than 5 MB in size of high quality and be suitable for print/publishing.
Submissions will be accepted exclusively through the mail magxvit@gmail.com
Competitors should provide their (Full Name, Age, Name of Institution/University, Valid Mobile Number) along the photograph through mail.
Any submission not adhering to the above rules and guidelines will be deemed ineligible for the competition.
The VIT is not responsible for late, lost, damaged, misdirected, postage due, stolen, or misappropriated entries.
Entry Forms with incorrect / inadequate / illegible / ambiguous particulars will not be considered. The MAGX committee reserves the right to accept or refuse any photograph without assigning any reason whatsoever.

MAGX's legal right to use all photographs for promotional purposes (Non- commercial).
Submitted photos must be original, created and/or taken by the contestant. It must not contain any materials owned or controlled by a third party for which you have not obtained a license, must not infringe the copyright, trademark, moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity or intellectual property rights of any person or entity.
The Photographer will be credited wherever the image is used.
Under no circumstances MAGX'18 will be liable for any:
Lost, late, misdirected, stolen, illegible or incomplete Submissions
Error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, submitted Photo(s);
Problems, failures or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, providers, computer equipment, software, email, players or browsers, on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet, at any website, or on account of any combination of the foregoing;
If, for any reason, the contest is not capable of being conducted as anticipated, due to unauthorized intervention, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of MAGX, which corrupt or affect the administration, security, integrity or proper conduct of the contest, MAGX reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the contest as deemed appropriate, disqualify any Participant.

Rules and Regulations
Following are the rules & regulations for the MAGX ’18 - International Short Film Festival organized by the Department of Multimedia – School of Information Technology & Engineering (SITE), VIT, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India.
Submission
The short film must have been completed after 1st January 2017.
Entries MUST be PAL format only. NTSC is NOT accepted. MAGX committee will not be responsible if film is not screened due to problem with the DVD.
Total running time must be less than 7 minutes in length, including front and back credits. Minimum time should be two minutes including credits.
The short film can be in any language or any genre. All non-English films must have English sub-titles for Screening.
Two DVD’s need to be submitted along with the entry. Each Preview DVD should be labelled with the Title, Running-time, Contact name, E-mail and Phone number.
Multiple entries can be submitted, but with separate entry forms, preview DVD, synopsis/description, should be enclosed. Each film is considered as a new entry.
MAGX committee has right to use the entries / send / selected / nominated films, DVD and materials from the film for conclave promotional purposes and to retain DVD copies of each film as part of our library.
Films once selected & submitted for final screening will not be allowed to be withdrawn under any circumstances until conclave is over.
The publicity material (Brochure, Stills, Poster, etc.) and a synopsis of the short film to be enclosed with the entry. Entry materials submitted shall not be returned to the entrant.
Transportation and insurance costs of DVDs, related documents, photographs and publicity materials from the country of origin to the Festival Office shall be borne by the applicant.
Entry Fee
The entry form/Application will be considered only on receipt of administrative film submission entry fee of INR 2360/- (Inclusive of 18% GST).

Regular Submission –21st June 2018 to 30th July 2018 (with Rs 2360 Entry Fee within India, USD 60 for foreign entries)
Late Submission – 1st August to 10th August 2018 (with Rs 2950 Entry Fee, USD 90 for foreign entries)
Film should be submitted before deadline. MAGX committee is not responsible for late, lost, damaged, misdirected, postage due, stolen, or misappropriated entries.

DVDs submitted for selection will be considered as final and no changes will be entertained after submission. It is the sole responsibility of the applicant to submit DVDs without any physical / quality defects.

Selection
Winners are selected by a judging panel of industry professionals consisting of independent producers, production companies, filmmakers, and other film industry professionals who may be substituted at the discretion of the MAGX committee.
All films are judged equally based on:
Content Originality (Quality of storyline, and script)
Production (Camera work, lighting, and shot composition)
Post-Production (Editing, transitions, pacing, continuity, and flow)
Image (Focus, color, and lighting)
Sound Quality (Clarity, consistency of audio levels, and lack of noise)
No work or artist will be either discriminated or favored by their country of origin, language, age, race, education, gender, ideology, or by their economic resources. Every content, every form, every technique will be admitted with no censorship of any kind.
The decision of selection committee is final and no correspondence will be entered into Finalists will be notified by mail and/or email. MAGX Committee will use its best efforts to announce the selected films, winners at the designated time, but will not be held liable for any unforeseen delays.
By entering the MAGX Short Film Competition, contestants and/or their parents or legal guardian (if such entrant is a minor) agree to accept and be bound by the decisions of the Festival and its judges which are final and binding in all matters.
Selection of films for MAGX Short Film Festival will be done by a committee whose decision will be final. However, MAGX Authorities reserve the right to accept or reject any film that is likely to offend sentiments, feelings or sensibilities of any caste, community, religion and sector is likely to promote racism or ill will in the society.
MAGX Committee will have the right to screen (maximum 5 screening) in different cities of India on non-commercial basis. For promotional / publicity purposes, excerpts from any film entered in the festival may be shown on any Television network / Internet or related media during the festival period.
Entrant agrees to be bound by all terms of these official Festival rules and regulations as established herein. The MAGX Short Film Festival reserves the right to extend the Festival deadline for any unforeseen reasons if needed. Entry constitutes permission to use winner's name, likeness, and voice for future advertising and publicity purposes without additional compensation.
Legal Implications
Short films that are submitted must be the entrants’ original work and shall not infringe on any copyrights or any other rights of any third parties.
Contestants agree that they have obtained all required permissions regarding music, sound and/or images presented in your short film. By entering the Festival, the entrant agrees that the MAGX ‘18 Short Film Festival committe will not be held liable for any copyright infringements perpetrated by you or your short film.
The MAGX ‘18 Short Film Festival reserves the right to not screen any film(s) for any reason it deems valid.
The entrants may also run the risk of being prosecuted as per the Indian Criminal Procedure Code and the Indian Media Law for any offence or infringement. Racial, religious and regional discrimination shall not be portrayed in any part of the film being submitted.
Affidavits of winners under 18 years of age at time of award must be countersigned by parent or legal guardian. Affidavits are subject to verification by the MAGX Short Film Festival committe. All the legal issues, if any, shall be under the jurisdiction of High Courts only.
MAGX Short Film Festival organizing, selection committee members, juries are not allowed to participate in respective festival as a contestant.
Entrants will retain all ownership rights to their films submitted.

Registration

Theme
"A FIGHT FOR SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CAUSES"
Eligibility
Participant must be pursuing his/her graduation.
Participants must bring their university/college/Institution Identification card during competition.
Rules
Participant must register online and should bring their official acknowledgement slip foe the event.
Participants are allowed to submit one piece of artwork.
Artwork must be an original piece, completed solely by the participant.
Artwork must be depicting the theme.
Artwork cannot be framed.
Artwork cannot be any larger than A3 size.
Artwork must have the description tag attached to the back.
Using 100 words or less, the artist must describe how the artwork represents the given theme, explain what type of media is used and why.
Artwork can be landscape, portraits, still life, abstract, etc.
Submitted artwork is subject for use by MAGX VIT University, Vellore.
Participants must bring their own pencil, watercolour, pastel, colour palete, gum, and scissors.
MAGX committee will provide only waterman sheet for the participants.
Judging Committee
The decision of the JUDGES is final and no discussion will be entertained over the decision.
