About the VIT
Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) was founded in 1984 as Vellore Engineering College by honorable Chancellor Dr. G. Vlswanathan. VIT attracts students from different states of India and other countries because of Its academic excellence. In the NIRF ranking 2022, which are published by the Government of India, VIT have placed it, in the 9th position for the best university, the 10th position for the best research, and the 12th position for the best engineering institution in India. VIT is the first institute in India to receive a QS 4-Star rating in the overall category and a QS Star rating in teaching, employability, facilities, innovation and inclusiveness. VIT has been ranked within the top 200 universities in Asia as per the QS Asia University Rankings 2022. VIT has been ranked among the top 601-700 universities in the world and one of the top 3 institutions in India as per the Shanghai ARWU Ranking 2022. VIT has also completed the 4th cycle of NAAC accreditation and has been rated as an "A++" grade institution. VIT has introduced many innovations in academic processes that add value to every student. About the School of Advanced Sciences
The School of Advanced Sciences at VIT comprises Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry departments. The school offers two years Masters, five-years Integrated Masters, and Ph.D. programmes in all these disciplines. The school comprises qualified and research oriented faculty members whose expertise is in the frontier areas of the sciences. The Semester Abroad Program (SAP) offers students international exposure to prepare effectively for professional employment or a research degree in the basic and applied sciences. SAS faculty members have received national and international recognition for projects that are financially supported by some of the leading funding agencies such as NBHM, UGC, CSIR, DRDO, OST, DBT, and others. In addition, they have published international research papers and filed patents.
About Department of Mathematics
Mathematics is an essential component of all Engineering disciplines. The Mathematics department has around 131 faculty members who support the other engineering departments through teaching and are also actively involved in academic research in frontier areas. The department offers M.Sc. Data Science (2 years), M.Sc. Business Statistics (2 years), Integrated M.Sc. Computational Statistics and Data Analytics(5 years), Integrated M.Sc. in Mathematics (5 years) and Ph.D. programmes in frontier research areas.
About the VIT Mathematical Meet - 2023
VIT Mathematical Meet - A National Level Math contest for school Students is a mega annual event organized by the Department of Mathematics, School of Advanced Sciences, and VIT in order to create and encourage the mathematical inventiveness in young minds at the school level. The Department of Mathematics of VIT is delighted to proclaim the VIT Mathematical Meet - 202.3, the 27th Annual Celebrations of the VIT Mathematics Association, to be held at Technology Tower, VIT, Vellore on 7th , January, 2023 (Saturday) from 7:00 A. M. to 5:00 P. M.
