About Us

About Society of Inflammation Research

Envisaged in August 2015 and registered in July 2017, SIR is a non-profit association that will strive to serve as a biomarker consortium at the national level to facilitate the interaction between clinicians and basic scientists related to Inflammation Research. The diverse background of the society members, including academicians, researchers, basic scientists, clinicians and specialists, policy makers, and scientific experts has helped in establishing a strong foothold for the society. The society strives to achieve the mission through publications, scientific meetings, educational activities, policy work, and offering awards and grants to researchers and students.

About VIT

VIT was established with the aim of providing quality higher education on par with international standards. It persistently seeks and adopts innovative methods to improve the quality of higher education on a consistent basis. The campus has a cosmopolitan atmosphere with students from all corners of the globe. Experienced and learned teachers are strongly encouraged to nurture the students. The global standards set at VIT in the field of teaching and research spur us on in our relentless pursuit of excellence. In fact, it has become a way of life for us. The highly motivated youngsters on the campus are a constant source of pride. Our Memoranda of Understanding with various international universities are our major strength. They provide for an exchange of students and faculty and encourage joint research projects for the mutual benefit of these universities. Many of our students, who pursue their research projects in foreign universities, bring high quality to their work and esteem to India and have done us proud. With steady steps, we continue our march forward. We look forward to meeting you here at VIT.

About School of Biosciences and Technology

The School of Bio Sciences & Technology (SBST) was established in 2001 and consists of four departments: Biotechnology, Integrative Biology, Biosciences, and Biomedical Sciences, headed by well-trained professors. SBST has 40 research laboratories and 16 teaching labs, including an animal house and histopathology lab.
The School offers one undergraduate (B.Tech in Biotechnology), four postgraduate (M.Sc. and M. Tech.) programs, and two integrated M.Sc. programs (Biotechnology and Food Sciences and Technology). It also offers an Integrated Ph.D. and a Ph.D. for external and internal (VITREE-qualified) students. In addition, SBST is associated with VIT's major research centers, the Centre for Bio Separation Technology (CBST) and the Centre for Nanobiotechnology (CNBT), and has dedicated faculty members who ignite young minds.

The other significant priorities include developing entrepreneurship skills and grooming students to become future scientists to improve humanity. Our efforts are strengthened by collaboration with National and international Universities and multinational companies. Visiting scientists and eminent speakers serve as an excellent resource for constructing knowledge. Healthy interactions with academia, industrial personnel, and clinicians are arranged to encourage young minds to create novel ideas. Consultancy research and commercialization of products at the university are undertaken as a part of the program.
The School has taken up research programmes in Microbiology, Medical Genetics, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, and other branches of Biomedical Sciences and has thus grown as a major centre of higher education and research in India. An essential feature of SBST's academic activity is its strong link with many national institutions across India.

Theme

The Molecular and Cellular Language of Inflammation with Clinical Relevance

Inflammation is a highly coordinated biological response essential for host defense, tissue repair, and restoration of homeostasis. However, when dysregulated, it becomes a central driver of diverse inflammatory and immune-mediated diseases. Understanding this complex process requires deciphering the molecular and cellular communication among immune, stromal, endothelial, neural, and tissue-resident cells, and how these interactions are shaped by genetics, metabolism, aging, environmental factors, and the microbiota.

The theme of the conference, “Molecular and Cellular Language of Inflammation: With Clinical Relevance,” aims to decode these intricate networks and translate fundamental discoveries into meaningful clinical applications. The conference will bring together basic scientists, clinicians, and translational researchers to foster cross-disciplinary dialogue, advance understanding of disease mechanisms, identify biomarkers and therapeutic targets, improve patient stratification, and accelerate the development of precise and effective interventions.

By bridging molecular discoveries with clinical insights, the conference seeks to create a dynamic meeting ground where bench meets bedside and scientific innovation translates into better health outcomes.
