Instructions to Students

1. Accessing the course:

  • The registered students can login to the platform of the VITOL MOODLE LMS through the below-given link: https://moovitol.vit.ac.in
  • You may use the login credentials sent to your VIT email.
  • If you have forgotten your password or have not received an email from VIT with login details, click on the “Lost password?” link to initiate a password reset.


  • You will be directed to reset your password by entering your register number or email address in the given box. If you are found in the VIT database, a mail will be sent to your VIT email address. Follow the instructions given in the mail and reset your password to access your VITOL MOODLE account.


  • For further assistance on issues of login, you may write to lms.vitol@vit.ac.in. You will get a response within 24 Hrs.

2. Accessing course materials

  • After logging in, you will see the “Dashboard” which provides an overview of all the courses you are enrolled in. Click on the course name “Essence of Traditional Knowledge” to access the contents of this course.
  • The course contents include videos, lecture notes, and web links. A weekly schedule of the course content will be visible. The course contents are divided into six weeks. Specific topics will be discussed during each week.
  • You are supposed to access the video materials, lecture notes, and web links relevant to the topic addressed during a particular week at your convenient time.
  • You are expected to watch all videos, lecture notes, and web links before attending the quiz each week.
  • A pop-up question (MCQ) will appear while watching each video. You should answer it to complete the video. Those who do not watch the video completely may be debarred from Quiz /FAT.

3. Quiz

  • There will not be any negative marking for incorrect responses.
  • Each quiz will be conducted during a stipulated date and time which will be announced in advance.
  • The quiz will be of 10 minutes duration only. The quiz will contain 12 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) 12 marks weightage. The timer will show the time left for submitting the responses.


  • The questions will be assigned randomly
  • Only one question will be visible at a time. After answering the question you may click on the [Next Page] button to see the next question.
  • You don’t have the provision to revisit the previous question. Also, you cannot answer questions randomly.
  • If the quiz is not submitted in 10 minutes, then the system will automatically end your quiz after saving your responses.
  • Out of 6 quizzes best 5 will be taken for the internal evaluation
  • Non-active students are not permitted to appear for Quiz/FAT
  • A mock quiz will be conducted for the learners to get familiar with the platform. It is mandatory to all the learners.
  • There will not be any re-quiz option available for the learners of the course for any reasons.

4. Announcements

  • The Announcement link is visible above the Week 1 content. This section will display essential information communicated by the lecturer like the dates of upcoming quizzes and assignments. Only the lecturer will be able to post messages as announcement.

5. Discussion Forum

  • Discussion forum is available at the end of every week’s content. Learners can post their queries relevant to the course which will be visible to other learners also. This forum can be used by learners to insert their contributions or answer the contributions of others.


  • Students are expected to take active participation in discussion forums to ensure participatory learning and to keep the platform dynamic with thought- provoking discussions.

6. Final Assessment Test (FAT)

  • FAT will be conducted for 50 marks and will be scaled for 40 marks weightage.
  • FAT will be a computer-based test similar to the quiz conducted through MOODLE
  • FAT will be held at VIT Labs
  • FAT date and venue will be informed well in advance.
  • The mode of conduct for the FAT exam will be decided and communicated by the Academics office, in due course.

7. Code of conduct

  • Students are expected to adhere to the code of conduct as per the COE regulations
  • Malpractice in any form will be viewed seriously.
