To expose the farmer community to the latest scientific and technological
advancements in the field to improve agricultural productivity.
To continue its training programmes targeting the youth and the farmer
community, so as to develop their technical skills to improve manpower,
enhancing employability and economic stability.
To afford opportunity to the economically backward rural students for
enhancing their access to higher education·
To inculcate a culture of hygiene and cleanliness among the rural population in
consonance with the government initiatives.
VIT, through its centres (Centre for Sustainable Rural Development and
Research Studies, for instance) and Student Club Chapters, would implement
several more programmes aiming at the societal development in a holistic way.
To make Vellore city greener through projects focussing on planting more
trees and implementing non-conventional energy schemes.

• VIT has built very good infrastructure facilities for both under graduate and
post graduate teaching in the various disciplines including Engineering, Science,
Technology, Management, Social Sciences and Languages. Further
strengthening of the existing systems will be given impetus to keep up with need
of the students and faculty of various disciplines and state of art facilities in
projections, audio-video systems and internet facilities, uninterrupted power
supply, air conditioning, water supply etc. Establishment of various facilities to
use renewable energy sources.
• VIT has provided much emphasis on various Government of India initiative
such as Swatch Bharath Abhyan, for a clean campus, solid waste recycling and
disposal, sanitation. To achieve this, Green Skill Development Program will
also be created. VIT has already implemented various digital platforms to reduce
the use of paper and will further strengthen the effective use of digital platforms
for various activities encompassing teaching and learning experiences, conduct of
examinations through electronic and digital platforms; administrative activities.
The prime motive being, to serve and nurture newer generation students, faculty
members, and work force to adopt to the "Digital India" initiative which will
usher the new era of efficiency in knowledge and technological development of
our country.
• VIT has already created Technology Business Incubator (TBI), Patent Cell,
Technology Transfer Department and strengthen it to promote and encourage
dialogues with technology and service industries both local and at national level
to promote Make in India initiative a fruitful enterprise.
