VIT has a strong alumni network across the globe. VIT has 84,573 registered
alumni and 52 alumni chapters in India and abroad. VIT Alumni Association
(VITAA) is regularly organizing the chapter meetings. VIT celebrates alumni day
on 26th January every year. However, the association has many challenges to
meet the current requirement of the institute. VIT needs to reach the top 500
universities of the world as the target set by the Govt. of India. Alumni
involvement in institutional growth is an urgent requirement. It is essential to
restructure VITAA, new policies need be framed, need to welcome new
generation alumni. VIT needs to adopt the best practices of successful alumni
associations in India and abroad. Diversified sources of income are essential for
making a world class university. It is not possible to make great university based
on only tuition fees. Suggestions from Alumni in this regard are essential. Alumni
can create an awareness of VIT all over the world. VITAA leaders need to speak
on this frequently.
Primary strategy is to engage alumni in all activities of VIT and set goal. VIT
will seek ideas from alumni to improve the activities of VIT including
collaborations, generation of funds for R&D activities, infrastructural and other
developments. Alumni need to play a significant role to promote VIT’s reputation
across the globe.
