Quality Policy

We at Vellore Institute of Technology aspire to establish a system of Quality Assurance,

which would on a continuous basis monitor and evaluate the quality of education, research
and training imparted at the institute, improve the teaching-learning process, research

activities, extension and ultimately, develop the institute as centre of excellence

About VIT

Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) - has developed a student-centred success culture and
offers the highest importance to ensure consistent high quality learning, teaching and research

experiences. The Indian Industry consortium, FICCI, has declared VIT as the “University of

the Year 2016” in India. VIT has a culture of diversity and inclusivity in the campus and
welcomes unconventional thoughts, cross fertilization of ideas, autonomy, multi and

interdisciplinary approaches. This is exemplified by the enrolment of 34,000 students from all
the States, Union Territories of India and 55 different countries. In addition, there is a

diversity in faculty members. VIT has published the highest number of research papers as per
Elsevier Database in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 in India. VIT has already been ranked by the

major International rankings such as QS World University Ranking, QS BRICS University

Ranking, QS Asia University Ranking, THE World University Ranking, THE Asia
University Ranking, THE Emerging Economies University Ranking and US News

Ranking. VIT is the first Institution in India to get 4 star rating by QS. VIT has A Grade

accreditation from NAAC, Government of India. Further, 14 of its Engineering programmes
have ABET- (USA) accreditation.

Five subject areas of VIT are in the Top 500 of the QS World University Rankings by

Subject 2020, Computer Science and Information Systems, Electrical and Electronic
Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Chemistry. It offers a

range of world class extracurricular facilities and support to students, inculcating a sense of

ownership among them. VIT has strong alumni network worldwide and international linkages
which are helping the students and faculty members to establish networking at global level

for collaborations.
