Workshop on Handling Fire and

Fire Extinguishers

In the modern scenario we happen to live

in populated tall buildings having several floors
equipped with safety measures. In VIT, hostels

are multi storeyed buildings which follow all

safety norms. Through every floor is equipped
with fire extinguishing tools but one has to know
how to use them during an emergency. To train

staff and students on fire extinguishing
techniques, a workshop was organised by the

events team inviting the “VIT Emergency

Response Team” on the 12 of December, 2019.
The resource team taught the participants on the
nature and causes of fire, its detection, spread, fire suppressants, do's and don'ts, how to handle emergency

situations during a fire break out and how to extinguish them. They demonstrated the use of extinguishers
and also made the students practice the same. The informative session was well received by the participants.
