GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
The main objectives of the IDP are
To articulate a clear vision and mission of the institution and align these with National Education
Policy 2020, NCrF, SDG and the institute's educational and research activities and social objectives.
To assess institutional development needs through wide consultative processes.
To identify capacity (human, material and financial) and organizational gaps based on the goals
and priorities.
To develop Annual Activity/ Capacity-Building Plans to build capacity and remove gaps.
To establish a transparent system for holistic, inclusive growth and development of VIT through
the application of all relevant tools, technologies and opportunities (esp. Digital Technologies) for
ensuring optimal utilization for overall balanced growth.
To establish an ethos of holistic lifelong learning and an operative framework to promote better
employability and entrepreneurship by integration of skilling into Higher Education.
To develop an operative framework to promote the internationalization of education, international
equivalence and exchange of faculty and students.
To ensure meaningful engagement of all stakeholders in the development and implementation of
its IDP.
To quantify the institution's goals using indicators, time-bound targets, and implementation plans.
To undertake periodic reviews and appropriate measures for continuous course corrections and
further improvements.
VIT’s key goals for the next 15 years are to
Emerge as a globally recognised multidisciplinary university offering diverse programmes in
Science, Engineering, Humanities and Liberal Arts, attracting meritorious students from all over
India and abroad.
Provide a high-quality technology-enhanced learning experience through qualified and experienced
faculty members, turning out graduates of high calibre, ethical standards and social responsibility.
Instil and inculcate a passionate approach to interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary and
transdisciplinary education and research.
Maintain a faculty-student ratio of 1:10 to attain academic and research excellence.
Strengthen the innovation ecosystem with a focus on nurturing grassroots innovation & the spirit
of entrepreneurship and Intellectual Property creation & commercialisation.
Create strong network with industries for Research, Intellectual Property Generation and Product
Development.
Establish active collaboration with select leading international academic institutions with focus on
joint research, joint academic programmes, summer schools and student exchange.
Strengthen the global alumni network, thus ensuring mutual gain and support.
Enhance faculty and student diversity with a focus on gender, regional diversity and Nationality.
Enhance student scholarships and fellowships.
Have program accreditation for all eligible programmes.
Emerge as an institution ranked within the top 100 globally in International Ranking Systems like
QS / THE / Shanghai World University Ranking.
Make significant progress on sustainability measures - reducing carbon footprint and moving
towards attaining the net zero goal by 2040.
Diversify financial sources so that more than 20% of the revenue of the Institution is from resources
other than tuition fees.
