Children are not things to be molded, but are people to be unfolded.

"Children do not constitute anyone's property: they are neither the property of their parents nor even of society. They belong only to their own future freedom." 

With this objective in mind ,VIT ‘s SSL and VITBS jointly organised a 2 day UNICEF -sponsored Workshop on Child Rights Implementation with a Focus on Child Protection Issues on 7 April ’15. The workshop witnessed the presence of about 200 students from VIT and even other colleges in and around VIT also participated in the workshop. The purpose of the workshop was to create awareness among college students about problems such as Beggary ,poverty , exploitation etc. And to deliberate on what the central and state governments and educational institutions could do to prevent and address the child protection issues properly.

“The central and state governments should ensure implementation of rights for children in the age group of 14-18 who are not covered by the existing law “

Said The keynote speaker for the inaugural function - Mr. R. Vidyasagar, Child Protection Specialist of UNICEF(United Nations Children’s Fund).He also emphasised on the need of a vocational training that is not just theoretical but also gives children a good practical exposure so that they find suitable jobs in the industry.
