Indiana Summit 2019

Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), India organized the 2nd World Summit on “Advances in Science Engineering and Technology” at Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis (IUPUI), USA during October 3 to 5, 2019. The summit was inaugurated in IUPUI, USA on October 3, 2019. The first summit was organized by VIT at University of Cambridge, UK in 2018.

In this 2nd summit, 24 Keynote speakers, 40 invited speakers and 200 delegates from 22 countries met in IUPUI, USA to discuss about challenges of Interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary and trans-disciplinary research. About 60 eminent speakers and researchers interacted with each other . Mr. Gregory Alan Ballard, the 48th Mayor of Indianapolis, the Chief Guest of the summit delivered the inaugural address where he emphasized on necessity of women involvement in technology and emphasized on research for social causes. IUPUI executive Vice Chancellor Prof Kathy E Johnson delivered the guest of Honour address where she explained about IUPUI and the partnership with VIT. Vice Chancellor of Vellore Institute of Technology, Dr Anand A Samuel welcomed the gathering and spoke about the credentials of VIT. The Executive director Dr. Sandhya Pentareddy stated that conferences like these sow seeds for breakthroughs in research for solving world's critical problems through interaction of experts from different fields. She said that trans-disciplinary methods are inevitable for problem-driven research. The Vice President, Dr. Sekar Viswanathan felicitated the gathering and explained that trans-disciplinary research is one that uses multiple areas of disciplines to address critical problems such as the ones faced in energy and agriculture sectors. He stressed on the importance of international and interdisciplinary collaboration. He also urged people to break the disciplinary boundaries while teaching students as the next generation needs multidisciplinary skills for solving technical and social problems. He said that as an Institution of Eminence(IoE), VIT gears up for groundbreaking research.

Dr. Partha S Mallick, Chair of the summit spoke about conference and highlighted on future research focus.

Professor Razi Nalim, the conference co-Chair and who is also the Executive Dean Research of IUPUI explained about VIT-IUPUI partnership. Prof Dr. David Russomanno, Dean, School of Engineering and Technology, IUPUI focused on the state of the art technologies developed by the school in IUPUI.
