Kerala board exam topper gets free admission to VIT

The VIT University has offered this year’s Kerala State topper in higher secondary examinations, Neeraja Nair, free admission to the BTech (Electronics and Communication Engineering) course making it the first time a State topper will be joining VIT.

The university, under its GV School Development Programme (GVSDP), will meet Nair’s course fees, food and accommodation.

Neeraja, who applied for B.Tech at Cochin University of Science and Technology also appeared for the VIT Engineering Entrance examination. She has decided to take up the offer of VIT granting her a 100 per cent fee waiver.



VIT’s stellar record of campus placements influenced her decision to join VIT, she said.

A Bharatanatyam dancer and a successful sportswoman, Neeraja said, by joining VIT, she would be able to display and improve her talents in dance and sports. She has won several school and district level championships in athletics and in maths.

“The presence of various literary, arts and technical clubs in VIT will enable me to develop my skills,” she said. Neeraja Nair, who studied in the Durga Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Kannanghad in Kasaragod district of Kerala, obtained 1200/1200 marks in the final examination.

The VIT chancellor, G Viswanathan, handed over the admission letter to Neeraja Nair in the presence of her parents Dr Radhakrishnan and Dr Shajidha Nair. VIT vice presidents, Dr Sekar Viswanathan, G V Selvam, and vice chancellor Dr Anand A Samuel were also present during the scholarship ceremony.
