Over 2,000 students land jobs
Placement season at Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) has been with lot of positivity as 719 companies visited VIT for placements last year making 4397 offers. Microsoft recruited 14 students offering CTC of 39.5 lakhs per annum from 2019 graduated batch.
This year, as on date, 245 companies have visited and 2026 students have been recruited by Dream and Super Dream companies. The placement schedule is packed till end of October, 2019.
Campus Recruitments at VIT for the 2020 graduating batch started on 01st May 2019 with PG internship placements. 150 Companies have conducted internship recruitments and have recruited 788 students from M.Tech and MCA courses. Major internship recruiters include Amazon, Net App, Intel, VM Ware, Oracle, Philips, Cummins, Reliance Etc., The selected students have started doing their 10 months internship starting from August. They are paid a monthly stipend ranging from Rs.10000/- to Rs.50000/-. After their internship period most of the students will be absorbed as full time employees with the starting salary of Rs.5 Lakhs per annum and above.
The placement process for the current batch (2020 graduating batch) started in the 3rd week of July 2019.Super Dream Companies (CTC more than 10 Lakhs) are invited for the 1st phase of campus recruitments. The Slot 1 of the super dream companies was shared between 4 companies which offered more than 25 lakhs per annum. Amazon (17), Pay Pal (3), Cisco (21), De Shaw (2) were the slot 1 Super Dream recruiters. Earlier, Microsoft has recruited 7 students with a CTC of 41.6 Lakhs per annum from the current batch(2020 batch), which is the highest so far. As on data, 92 Super dream companies have visited VIT for the placements and internships.
Core Engineering placements also have been happening parallely along with the IT Placements. Schlumberger, Bajaj Auto, L&T Construction, Valeo, NXP Semi-conductors, Cummins, Varroc, Waltech, Facilio, Shapoorji, Hyundai Motors were some of the core engineering companies that have conducted campus recruitments at VIT.
Many of the captives of consulting, analytics, banks etc., have visited VIT in Dream category for campus recruitments. Consulting Companies like Delloitte, JP Morgan and PWC have recruited from VIT with Deloitte hiring 105 students from VIT. Other Consulting companies like KPMG, E &Y and BCG are expected to visit in the coming month. Multinational banks like RBS, Barclays, Axis Bank have conducted campus recruitment at VIT. Bank of America and State Street are expected to visit in near future.
The IT Services Companies like TCS, Wipro, Infosys and Capgemini are recruiting VIT students with a differential (higher) CTC. TCS Digital has hired 244 students from VIT which is the highest number of Digital offers in the country for TCS surpassing the earlier record of 82 offers done at VIT in the last academic year.
Wipro has hired 278 students from VIT for its Turbo hiring. This again is the highest number of Dream offers (CTC 6.5 Lakhs per annum) in the country surpassing the last year’s VIT-Wipro offers of 238. VIT and Wipro will enter into the Limca Book of Records for the 4th time in a row for the highest number of Dream offers.
IT Services Companies recruitments are happening now and the placements schedule will go till next May. MBA and non -engineering placements will start in September, 2019.
