Recently, a Communication Engineering Lab belonging to the School of Electronics Engineering (SENSE) at VIT successfully obtained NABL accreditation.

This is a significant milestone by the School as this accreditation shall pave for bridging the gap between industry, academia and researchers/students as it brings more credibility and authenticity to the research works.

The communication engineering lab has long been used for experiments, testing, and research on analog and digital communication. The lab is furnished with the most cutting-edge tools.

NABL Accreditation:

NABL stands for National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories. It is a body under the Union Ministry of Science & Technology and this accreditation is subject to frequent checks making it even more credible.

A laboratory that has earned NABL accreditation is proven to have met strict standards for ethical behavior, quality control, and technical proficiency. Credibility and competence, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, customer confidence, international recognition, technical expertise, continuous improvement, research and development, and collaboration opportunities are some of the important aspects of using NABL accreditation.

Two auditors from NABL audited the CET laboratory on June 27 and 28, 2023. Sequentially, the lab was awarded an accreditation certificate. The scope of the test and some of its key features are listed below.

Discipline: Electronics

Group/subgroup: Telecommunication Equipment/HF Radio

Note on Testing methods:

  • The international standard ITU-R 559-2 was chosen as the standard to validate.
  • Testing Parameter considered under the scope is Radio frequency protection ratio of the AM radio receiver.
  • The frequency protection ratio was verified to be within the value mentioned in the standard ITU-R 559-2.
  • Given a sample, the test can figure out whether the sample is accepted to be a valid one.

Who can be benefitted?

  • Industry develops radio receiver boards in the range of amplitude modulation can use for facility to test their boards.
  • Academic institution’s students project on AM receivers.
  • Researchers who research and implement the radio receivers.
