UGC Conference

The University Grants Commission held Internationalization of Higher Education and quality Assurance conference in VIT, where Prof. H. Devraj, Vice President of UGC gave his valedictory speech. Prof. Devraj said that under the National Mission on Education through information and technology, 27 online undergraduate courses will be made available for students free of cost. The UGC had made it mandatory for all colleges to get accredited by June 25th, 2015.
In his presidential address Chancellor said that students are sent to 40 to 50 universities under the semester abroad program with funding from VIT.
Another idea that was given much importance during the conference was that the Union Minister for textile wanted to establish 15 new textile parks across the country and states were asked to come up with proposals. Chancellor also expressed the need to draw students from aboard for higher education in India.
