University donates Rs. 1.25 crores towards Tamil Nadu flood relief

VIT University donates Rs 1.25 crore towards relief measures of Tamil Nadu floods
Management, faculty, staff, students and alumni pitch in to raise money

In what has been one of the most devastating natural calamities in Southern India, the 2015 floods proved catastrophic for the residents of Tamil Nadu. However, many philanthropists, good samaritans as well as organizations have opened their hearts to help those in need


VIT Unversity, Vellore also stepped in to reach out to those devastated by the floods. Our Founder and chancellor , Dr G Viswanathan, visited the state secretariat on Thursday, 10th December and handed over a Demand Draft of Rs 1.25 crore to Mr K. Shanmugam, IAS and Principal Secretary, Finance Department, State Government, Chennai, towards the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund.


“This fund towards the welfare and relief of those affected by the devastating floods of Tamil Nadu, was raised by donations from management, students and alumni. In addition, our faculty and staff donated their one-day salary” said Dr. G. Viswanathan.
