VIT signs MoU with UN based organization

VIT University signs MoU with CIRDAP (Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and Pacific) for Promotion of Agriculture and Rural Development. The Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP) is a regional, intergovernmental and autonomous organization set up by the United Nations on 6 July 1979 . The member-countries are Afghanistan, Bangladesh (Host State), Fiji, India, Indonesia, Iran, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam.
The Chancellor Dr.G.Viswanathan, of VIT University and Director General Dr. Cecep Effendi, of CIRDAP signed an MoU in Kualalampur, Malaysia in the presence of Embassy personnel and higher officials representing from 16 member countries. The objective of the MoU is to promote the Agriculture and Rural Development with the knowledge and best practices from the various countries. Dr.G.Viswanathan The Centre for Sustainable Rural Development and Research Studies of VIT University will take initiative in planning programs covering a major area in Tamil Nadu. The VIT University students and Faculties will concentrate in research and projects pertaining to the Rural Development. Further Dr.G.Viswanthan told that VIT will support and bridge the activities and initiative of the CIRDAP.


Dr.Cecep Effendi , Director General of CIRDAP told that VIT will be a hub for rural development for the Universities present in the 16 member countries. He said that he want to harness the potential of the young minds and scientist of VIT University for the same.
