A total of 1,95,302 candidates have registered for the VIT Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE) to be held in the form of a computer-based test (CBT) in 134 centres in 112 cities from April 8 to 19 for admission to the B. Tech programmes offered by VIT University. Dubai and Kuwait are among the centres.
G. Viswanathan, VIT Chancellor, said in a release that Uttar Pradesh accounts for the largest number of 27,604 registrations, followed by Andhra Pradesh (25,087), Bihar (17,314), Maharashtra (15,932), Telangana (13,134) and Tamil Nadu (13,647).
Among the cities, Delhi has registered the largest number of 14,219 candidates, followed by Hyderabad (13,846), Kota (10,009), Vijayawada (9,165) and Patna (8,585). Chennai has registered 6,229 and Vellore 2,409 candidates.
The results will be announced on or before April 30 at the following websites: www.vit.ac.in, www.schools9. com, www.indiaresults.com, www. shiksha.com, www.bharathedu.com and www. examresults.net.
Counselling or admissions will be held from May 11 to 16, with each day divided by the ranks in ascending order. Counselling for those with ranks up to 8,000 will be held on May 11, followed by ranks up to 12,000 on May 12, ranks up to 16,000 on May 13, and ranks up to 20,000 on May 16.
Central and State Board toppers will be awarded 100 per cent fee waiver for all the four years. VITEEE rank-holders between 1 and 50 will be given 75 per cent fee waiver, while those with ranks from 51 to 100 will be given 50 per cent fee waiver.
Those with ranks between 101 and 1000 will be given a 25 per cent tuition fee waiver.
Plus Two toppers among students from government schools in rural areas who appear for the VITEEE would be given 100 per cent tuition fee waiver and full exemption from hostel and mess fee, the Chancellor said.
