CIRCULAR
Sub: Prohibiting the Consumption of Tobacco and Tobacco products in the campus –
Notification – Reg.
***In continuation to the circulars dated July 15, 2016, December 31, 2018 and December 30, 2019, it is strongly reiterated that, consumption of Tobacco and Tobacco products in any form is prohibited within the campus.
As per the Government’s Notification selling of tobacco products in a radius of 100m of academic buildings is prohibited. Also, smoking in public places is an offence and punishable.
It is hereby informed that the Narcotic Intelligence Bureau (NIB) CID teams are searching the shops in and around VIT campus at a regular interval for banned substances. Vellore police will also make surprise visits to nearby shops and residential areas to identify any banned substances are being sold and are empowered to enquire any person.
Students are advised not to be involved in any such activity.
