Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), represented by Registrar, Dr. T. Jayabarathi and the Academy of Prisons and Correctional Administration (APCA), represented by its Director, Mr. B. Pradeep, formalised a strategic agreement through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed earlier during the day, in the presence of our Hon’ble Founder and Chancellor Dr. G. Viswanathan and Vice President Mr. Sankar Viswanathan. Dr. Mary Cherian, Dean and other faculty members of VIT Business School joined the occasion. This significant collaboration is designed to foster a mutually supportive partnership focused on advancing Correctional Administration and Management Development.
The core objectives include joint curriculum development, undertaking collaborative research programmes on correctional administration issues, initiating specialised training through programmes like ‘Management Skills for Prison Officers’ and offering Certificate and Diploma courses. Furthermore, the MoU facilitates the co-option of VIT faculty and student resources for actionable research and provides for internship opportunities for APCA trainee officers at VIT. This alliance marks a dedicated effort to strengthen the capacity of functionaries within the Criminal Justice System through academic and professional collaboration.
