Cooperation on water security

Cooperation between governments at the local, regional, national, and global levels is essential in addressing water security issues such as scarcity, pollution, and management. Vellore Institute of Technology consistently insists on and promotes initiatives that benefit society, both locally and globally. Vellore Institute of Technology faculty members have collaborated with national and international governments, institutions, and organizations on projects and journal publications focused on water security, aimed at analysing and mitigating local, regional, and national water issues. Equity, sustainability, accessibility, and inclusion are key aspects of successful cooperation. Effective collaboration at all levels is necessary in maintaining long-term, equitable, and sustainable water security.

Awareness Program on Water Conservation and Quality Parameters for Global Health on 22.02.2023:

On February 22nd, 2023, Quality week celebration was held in VIT Chennai Campus. Guest lecture based on awareness of water conservation and quality parameters for global health was organized on behalf of computer vision and imaging research group. Two resource persons were invited for giving their valuable insights on achieving sustainable development goals. Thiru. P. Subramanian, Hydrogeologist and Mrs. Mageswari T, Assistant Executive Engineer from Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board are the guest speakers. They discussed much useful information about levels of water usage and how to monitor the quality of water, what are the parameters that should be monitored for quality water and much other useful information for global health. The participation was over whelming, and the received feedback was awesome.

1 AY202223 Research University of Delaware, United States of America 17-04-2023 17-04-2023 We have initiated the research work with J. T. Kirby. At real world scales, viscosity is possibly not the right thing to think of, as turbulence effects would overwhelm any direct viscous effects. At field scale, the ice shields the water column from the direct effect of wind-induced shear in the water column, but the bottom surface of ice sheets is often very rough, and the implications for turbulent wave boundary layers under these rough surfaces are pronounced. A thorough research is on-going based on the topic, Ice compression.

8 AY202223 Research National Institute of Ocean Technology, India 04-05-2023 04-05-2023 Next, the discussion with the Director, National Institute of Ocean Technology is towards ongoing projects on drones and underwater drones. We discussed the recent requirements of Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) for drones capable of operating in harsh ocean environments. This involved the need for advanced technology to ensure the drones durability, manoeuvrability, and ability to withstand extreme conditions. Furthermore, we delved into a proposal for a project by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) to address these requirements and develop innovative solutions for underwater drone applications. The meeting provided valuable insights, laying the foundation for potential collaborations between VIT & NIOT in advancing the field of underwater drones/UAVs for the ocean environment.
