Master of Social Work (MSW) at VIT Vellore: 2026-27 Admissions
The Master of Social Work (MSW) programme at Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) is a four-semester field and research-intensive postgraduate program that intends to build skilled human resources in professional social work. The programme facilitates extensive exposure to the various fields of social work practice. The programme is designed with a diversified curriculum to understand and acknowledge the practical skills essential to becoming competitive social work professionals.
The MSW at VIT has a comprehensive field and research-oriented curriculum focusing on existing and emerging areas of social work practice. The curriculum is on par with the national and international standards.
ELIGIBILITY

Any graduation with 60% marks (Inclusive of all subjects) from a Recognized University or Institution with a minimum of three years duration.

Performance in Group Discussions and Face to Face Interview.

The eligibility criteria is relaxed by 10% in UG degree for applicants belonging to SC / ST and applicants hailing from Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and the North Eastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

The Admission will be on the basis of the performance in the qualifying examination U.G. (or its equivalent).

Candidates will be called for the Personal Interview in the order of merit based on the U.G. marks.

The fact that a candidate has qualified and has been called for the Personal Interview does not guarantee admission to him / her. This depends upon the cut-off fixed on the merit list and the availability of seats.

Candidates can apply through online at https://vit.ac.in through Netbanking/Debit card/Credit card/Paytm mode.

Enter into New applicant page and register yourself with required information.

Verify your registered email id and mobile number for the password received from VIT. (Keep this email id and password till the completion of the admissions).

Fill the online application form. Cost of the online form is Rs.600/-. The application cost is non-refundable.

Pay the application fee Rs.600/- through online mode using netbanking/Debit card / Credit card/Paytm mode.

Upload your Photo and Sign image on the online application form.

To be assured that uploaded documents are clearly visible if not your applications will be rejected.
- Class X, XII Board Certificate as a proof of date of birth.

Mark Sheets of Qualifying Examination of all attempts (please ensure that you also enclose the reverse side of the marks sheet containing details).

- Transfer/Migration/College Leaving Certificate obtained from the Institute last studied.
- Common Affidavit for Student, Parent/Guardian & Hostel on Rs. 200/- non-judicial Stamp Paper.

University Registration Number will be generated to the candidates those who have submitted the above documents only.

In due of original TC submitted, a TC from VIT will be issued on completion of the course. The candidates should produce statement of final year marks and provisional degree certificate before 14th August, 2026 failing which admission will be cancelled with the forfeit of admission fee.

The published fee at the Vellore campus is Rs. 60,000, plus a refundable Caution Deposit of Rs. 2,000 for the first year and a non-refundable online application fee of Rs. 600.
The curriculum carries a Total Graded Credit Requirement of 80 credits: 32 University Core, 33 Professional Core and 15 Professional Elective credits.
Three fieldwork practicums across the four semesters, a one-month summer internship after the first year, and a final-semester internship paired with an original dissertation.
Yes. The final semester includes a combined Internship and Dissertation requiring Institutional Review Board ethical approval, original data collection and a final viva-voce.
