Eligibility Criteria - Integrated M.Tech. Programmes (5 Year) ADMISSIONS: 2026-27

1. General Eligibility
Nationality The applicants for admission should be a Resident Indian National and should have studied in regular, full time and formal education schools located in India in the preceding two years. (10 +2 year)
Age Limit Candidates whose Date of Birth falls on or after 01.07.2006 are eligible to apply

3. For SC/ST Category, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and North Eastern states:
(i) VIT-Vellore and VIT-Chennai Campus: The Qualifying Marks is relaxed by 10% i.e. 60% in PCM for applicants belong to SC/ST and applicants hailing from Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and the North Eastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim & Tripura.
(ii) VIT – AP and VIT Bhopal Campus: The Qualifying Marks is relaxed by 10% i.e. 55% in PCM for applicants belong to SC/ST and applicants hailing from Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and the North Eastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim & Tripura.
4. Important notes:
(i) Applicants belonging to SC/ST category should submit community certificate.
(ii) Applicants hailing from Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and the North Eastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura. They should Submit Nativity Certificate.

(iii) A minimum of 60% in both 10th and 12th standards is mandatory for VIT campus placements.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

  • Applications are processed in the order of merit, based on the aggregate of marks (rounded to 2 decimal points) secured in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM Marks average) in the +2 / Higher Secondary & Intermediate Examination.

  • In case the Normalization Marks are same, the order of merit will be decided based on the best scores in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry sequentially, also based on total obtained scores in all subjects.

  • Short listed applicants list will be published on VIT website (https://vit.ac.in/) after that , applicants can give their campus and program preferences (i.e., Applicants can give “n” number of choices)

  • Seat will be allotted based on Rank, Preference of Campus, and Programme (Subject to availability).

  • Once Allotment is done (Campus, Programme), it cannot be changed under any circumstances.

  • Selected applicants will receive their Provisional Admission Letter to pay their Tuition Fees through online mode.

  • The Orientation & Commencement of classes will be informed through e-mail.

  • Submission of any incorrect, false, or misleading information or documents during the admission process at Vellore Institute of Technology may result in cancellation of admission in accordance with the Institution’s rules and regulations.

  • The University Registration Number will be generated only for candidates who have submitted the above-mentioned documents.

  • In lieu of the original Transfer Certificate submitted, a Transfer Certificate from VIT will be issued upon completion of the course.

  • Failure to submit the Class 12 mark statement and Transfer Certificate (TC) by 14th August, 2026 will result in cancellation of admission and forfeiture of fees as per institutional norms.

Is there an entrance exam for Integrated M.Tech at VIT?

No. Admission is based entirely on the Class 12 PCM aggregate; there is no entrance examination.

How long is the Integrated M.Tech programme?

How is the merit list prepared?

By Class 12 PCM aggregate; ties are broken using the best scores in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry sequentially, then total marks across all subjects.

Can applicants choose their preferred campus and programme?

Yes. After the shortlist is published, applicants submit campus and programme preferences, listing any number of choices. Seats are allotted by rank, preference and availability.

Can a seat allotment be changed once confirmed?

No. Once a campus and programme allotment is finalised, it cannot be changed under any circumstances.

What is the total fee for the Integrated M.Tech programme?

The academic fee rises from Rs. 1,20,000 in Year 1 to Rs. 2,95,000 in Year 5, plus a refundable Rs. 2,000 Caution Deposit in the first year only.

What is the application fee for Integrated M.Tech at VIT?
