Nobel Laureate Dr. Moungi Bawendi Graces ICNAN ’25 as Distinguished Guest
We were honoured to host Dr. Moungi Bawendi, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry-2023, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA, on our campus. He was the Guest for 3rd International Conference on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology – ICNAN’ 25.
Dr. Moungi G. Bawendi, a French-born American chemist, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry with two others for the discovery and synthesis of quantum dots. His work at MIT revolutionised the chemical production of these tiny semiconductor particles, resulting in almost perfect and highly applicable nanocrystals used in LED lamps and screens.
During his address, Dr. Bawendi stated that science is viewed as a key agent for economic growth and human prosperity. The nurturing and encouragement of student intellectual growth towards science and technology is considered incredibly important, a role which VIT is seen to be fulfilling effectively.
