Er. V. Arutselvan is a highly experienced power systems professional with an illustrious career spanning 37 years in the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TANGEDCO/TANTRANSCO). His expertise encompasses power distribution, substation operation, grid management, and equipment maintenance, with significant hands-on experience in HT/LT line maintenance and breakdown management.
During his service, he played a vital role in ensuring reliable power delivery through effective distribution system management, loss reduction strategies, and preventive and corrective maintenance practices. He also possesses specialized expertise in EHT hot-line maintenance, contributing to improved system reliability and reduced downtime.
Post-retirement, he continues to contribute actively to the sector as a technical trainer and mentor. He is associated with the TANGEDCO Technical Training Center, where he delivers training programs for utility personnel. Additionally, he serves as a Visiting Faculty at APCA, Vellore (Regional Academy for Prisons and Correctional Administration).
His current areas of focus include:
- Electrical safety and safe work practices
- Disaster management in power systems and grid safety
- Substation equipment operation and maintenance
- AT&C loss reduction and line loss management
- Efficient distribution system operation
Er. Arutselvan is widely respected for his ability to translate field experience into practical training, thereby strengthening the technical capabilities of government and utility personnel.
