2024 marks the 202nd birth anniversary of Sir Gregor Mendel, who is attributed as FATHER OF GENETICS. His work with pea plants laid the foundation for modern genetics. On April 23rd of 1953, James Watson, Francis Crick along with Maurice Wilkins, and Rosalind Franklin published a paper in Journal of Nature on the double helix structure of DNA, paving way to the advancements is knowledge, understanding and research in the field genetics. The completion of Human Genome Project was announced on April 25,2003 and from here on the DNA DAY was celebrated. The 1000 Genomes Project which came to an end in 2023 revolutionizing the Computational Biology in the field.
