The Future of Commerce: VIT Vellore Partners with ACCA and ISDC
Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Vellore, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Skill Development Corporation (ISDC–Global) and ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) on 29 January 2026. The MoU was formally signed by Mr. Rajesh Poonia, National Head – Institutional Partnerships, ISDC-Global; Mr. Prabhanshu Mittal, Head – Educational Partner Relationship, ACCA; and Dr. T. Jayabarathi, Registrar, VIT, Vellore. The industry partners also met our Vice Chancellor Dr. Kanchana Bhaaskaran.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Dr. V. Selvam, Dean, School of Social Sciences and Languages (SSL), representing VIT; Mr. Aravind C. R., Regional Head – Partnerships, representing ISDC; along with Dr. S. Usha, Head, Department of Commerce, and Dr. A. Dunstan Rajkumar, ACCA Coordinator.
The primary objective of this collaboration is to enable our students enrolled for B.Com. programme (including the specialisation programmes) to pursue the globally recognised ACCA qualification alongside their undergraduate studies. Under this initiative, nine ACCA papers are embedded within the B.Com. curriculum, granting students exemptions for nine papers. Consequently, students are required to clear only four professional-level papers to qualify as ACCA professionals.
This strategic collaboration significantly enhances student employability, particularly with the Big Four accounting firms—Deloitte, PwC, EY, and KPMG. The ACCA qualification also facilitates admission to premier higher education institutions such as NITs and ISB in India, as well as leading universities abroad.
The programme equips students for contemporary global careers in Financial Reporting, Strategic Business Leadership, Auditing and Assurance, Taxation, and Advanced Financial and Performance Management.
