VIT Hosts Industry–Academia Networking Conclave in Pune to Revisualize Mechanical Engineering for the Digital Era
The School of Mechanical Engineering (SMEC) and the Career Development Centre (CDC) at VIT hosted a successful “Industry–Academia Networking Conclave” in Pune today. The event brought together visionary leaders to discuss “Reimagining Mechanical Engineering in the Digital Era” and focused on the vital importance of creating a skilled, industry-ready workforce. The Chief Guest, Mr. Ramesh Venugopalswamy, Head Skilling – CSR, Bajaj Auto Foundation, Pune, emphasized that educational institutions must design advanced, application-oriented curricula that align with evolving industry needs. The Guest of Honour, Mr. Sunil Modi, Senior Vice President & Director, Vanderlande Industries Pvt Ltd, further highlighted India’s rising status as a Global Capability Center, reminding us that while AI is a powerful tool, we must maintain mastery over it to drive true innovation.
VIT Founder & Chancellor Dr. G. Viswanathan shared a powerful vision for the future, noting that the university is actively expanding its partnerships with reputed companies nationwide through new MoUs. By prioritizing quality and productivity, we can transition from reliance on imports to becoming a self-reliant, export-driven nation.
The event was graced by the presence of our Vice Presidents Dr. Sankar Viswanathan and Dr. Sekar Viswanathan, along with Vice-Chancellor Dr. Kanchana Bhaskaran. The conclave was further supported by a distinguished team including Dr. Samuel Rajkumar, Director – CDC, Dr. Denis Ashok S, Director – Sponsored Research, Dr. Ramesh Kumar C, Director – Innovation, Startup and Technology Transfer (VITIST), Dr. Kuppan P., Dean – SMEC, Dr. Nantha Gopal K, Associate Dean – SMEC, and Dr. Gokul Kumar K., Director – Event Management and faculty members from SMEC.
