Global food production needs to be increased to feed the growing population by overcoming fluctuating climate changes, decreased yield productivity, depleted soil fertility, and reduced efficacy of agrochemicals. In this regard, biofertilizers and biopesticides are promising aids to augment crop yield in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way. Biofertilizers are the renewable alternatives to chemical fertilizers that keep the soil environment abundant in all kinds of micro- and macro-nutrients via nitrogen fixation, phosphate and potassium solubilization or mineralization, and it also aid the biodegradation of organic matter in the soil. Biopesticides are the naturally occurring or derived materials from living organisms that repress the growth and propagation of pest population through different mechanisms including the disruption of the insect life cycle. Thus, biopesticides and biofertilizers confer significant potential in enhancing crop productivity, improving soil health, and stand as a solution to the adverse environmental hazards generated by their chemical counterparts. There is a growing demand channelized to produce biofertilizers and biopesticides for developing ‘nutrient rich high-quality food’ and it requires the constructive collaboration of multiple stakeholders.
