Centre for Biomaterials, Cellular and Molecular Theranostics (CBCMT)

Events Organized

1. We are happy to have our PhD fresher’s induction program on 11 August 2022 at our CBCMT. We welcome our newbies to our family to learn with us, grow with us, and shine to fly out with beautiful colors. CBCMT motivates our scholars to be crazy enough to think and curious to know and creative enough to apply them to make their scientific journey more interesting. With this note we welcome our scholars and wish them all the best for their wonderful journey of seeking knowledge ahead with us!

2. Centre for Biomaterials, Cellular and Molecular Theranostics (CBCMT), Vellore Institute of Technology, India, has organized a 5-day Faculty Development Program on “Interdisciplinary Translational Science and Engineering” in July 18-22, 2022, in hybrid mode.

3. The advancement in microscopy techniques has indeed made biological research attain the next level. With an objective to gain a better understanding of these techniques, CBCMT (VIT) and Olympus India has organized a webinar on “High resolution and high-speed three-dimensional microscopy imaging and quantitative image analysis using Artificial Intelligence (AI)”, on 7th July 2021.

4. Glad to inform you that a team of researchers from our center “Center for Biomaterials, Cellular and Molecular Theranostics” (CBCMT) participated in a Pan Indian flagship event hosted by TATA STEEL and had won the event by bagging a cash price of INR. 5 Lakhs. The event focuses on identifying research talents and strengthening the portfolio of advanced material research and its translation.

Visits

CBMCT Researchers visits second largest hospital in Vellore The researchers from CBCMT lead by Prof. Geetha Manivasagam visited Sri Narayani Hospital & Research Centre, second largest hospital in Vellore. The researchers visited various vibrant departments such as Neurology, Orthopedics, Dental care, Urology, Cancer center, Sri Sakthi Amma center for biomedical research to name a few, in the hospital and their infrastructural facilities were also shown. Many collaborative ideas were brainstormed and future collaborative projects were discussed.

Researchers from CBCMT visits Dr.KM Cherian’s Frontiers Mediville: A state-of-the-art research facility in Tamil Nadu. CBCMT researchers visited India’s first Medical Science Park, developed by Frontier Lifeline Hospitals & Dr. K.M. Cherian Heart Foundation – Frontier Mediville, Gummidipoondi to have collaborative meetings and have a look at their infrastructural facilities to engage in future collaborative projects. The team, led by Dr. Arunkumar Palaniappan, Assistant Professor with CBCMT initiated the trip after an initial virtual dialogue with the esteemed cardiovascular surgeon, Dr. K.M. Cherian to ascertain the current challenges towards clinical translation. The research park is well equipped with Universal testing machine (UTM) and leakage testing apparatus to study mechanical integrity of tissue replacement or medical devices such as gloves and masks. A small electrospinning instrument is located within the tissue engineering laboratory. The facility also houses necroscopy laboratory, pathology laboratory, electrophysiology unit, microscopy room and chemical laboratory with fume hoods. As part of GLP and GMP, Man Material Movement is adhered to strictly. Clean rooms can be accessed through air showers, with access to sterilized material through an autoclave located in a separate room. Cell culture facility of the research park is state-of-the-art, including a Class 3 biosafety cabinet to work with viral particles. Their research complex houses a variety of cell culture cabinets to allow work on cell cultures. The facility is designed to conduct both large and small animal studies.
