Overview
The Medical Image Processing Lab is a core teaching facility under the School of Electronics Engineering (SENSE), focusing on computational techniques for analyzing, enhancing, and interpreting medical images such as X-ray, CT, MRI, and ultrasound. Using MATLAB and Python, algorithms are developed for feature extraction and quantitative analysis. These approaches support early disease detection, accurate diagnosis, and improved patient care through advanced healthcare technologies.
Objectives
- To understand the principles and methodologies involved in medical image acquisition and processing.
- To learn advanced techniques for image enhancement and restoration to improve diagnostic quality.
- To study image segmentation methods and quantitative analysis for accurate feature extraction.
- To analyze medical images for diagnostic interpretation and research applications.
- To develop proficiency in software tools such as MATLAB and Python for medical image processing.
Key Focus Areas
- Acquisition of medical images from MRI, CT, X-ray, and ultrasound systems, followed by digitization for computational processing.
