M.Tech. 2 Year Engineering Programmes (2026-27 Admissions)

VIT offers over 20 M.Tech specialisations across 7 schools: SBST, SCE, SCOPE, SCORE, SENSE, SELECT, and SMEC. Programmes span computer science, electronics, electrical, mechanical, civil, and bio sciences engineering.

M.Tech programmes are offered across VIT Vellore, VIT Chennai, VIT-AP, and VIT-Bhopal. Campus availability varies by specialisation. For example, M.Tech VLSI Design is offered at Vellore, Chennai, AP, and Bhopal; M.Tech Electric Mobility is at Chennai only.

Admission is through VITMEE 2027, a national-level Computer Based Test conducted by VIT. After the rank list is declared, shortlisted candidates attend online counselling, choose campus and programme preferences, and are allotted seats based on rank, preferences, and availability.

VITMEE 2027 (CBT) is tentatively scheduled on 28th April 2027 (Tuesday) and 3rd May 2027 (Sunday). Rank declaration is on 13th May 2027.

The last date to apply online and upload documents is 12th April 2027 (Sunday).

The application fee is Rs. 1,200 (including GST), payable online through Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, or Paytm. The fee is non-refundable.

Candidates need a full-time graduate degree from a recognised University or Institute with at least 60% aggregate, and 60% in Class X and Class XII or Diploma. Final-year students are also eligible to apply. Programme-specific branch requirements apply.

Selected candidates must pay an advance fee of Rs. 1,00,000 within the deadline to confirm seat allotment. Candidates who fail to pay the advance fee on time will not be considered for admission.

Tuition fees vary by programme and category. Civil, electrical, and selected mechanical programmes are Rs. 1,50,000 (Cat 1) to Rs. 2,30,000 (Cat 2) per annum. CSE family programmes are Rs. 1,90,000 to Rs. 2,99,000 per annum. LTI Mindtree partner programmes are Rs. 3,20,000 (Cat 2 only). A Rs. 3,000 Caution Deposit applies.

The annual fee for NRI and Foreign candidates is USD 6,500.

LTI Mindtree is the knowledge partner for M.Tech AI&ML (Vellore, Chennai) and M.Tech AI&DS (Chennai). The curriculum is aligned to industry roles, with eligibility requirements that include 60% in Class X, Class XII/Diploma, and UG, all cleared in first attempt; no active backlogs; not older than 25 years at assessment; and education gap of no more than 2 years.

VIT offers M.Tech CSE (AI&ML) at Vellore and Chennai, M.Tech AI&DS at Chennai and Bhopal, and M.Tech AI&ML / AI&DS with LTI Mindtree as the knowledge partner.

VIT offers M.Tech CSE (Cyber Security) at Vellore through SCORE, and M.Tech CSE (Cyber Security & Digital Forensics) at Bhopal through SCOPE.

M.Tech VLSI Design is offered across Vellore, Chennai, VIT-AP, and VIT-Bhopal through the School of Electronics Engineering (SENSE).

M.Tech Electric Mobility (SELECT, Chennai) and M.Tech Smart Mobility (SMEC, Vellore) are aligned with the electric vehicle industry.

Yes. Candidates appearing for their final degree examination or final semester examination in the current year are also eligible to apply. Final examinations must be completed before selection at VIT, and final-year marks and Provisional Certificate must be produced before 14th August 2027.

Documents include Class X and XII / Diploma mark statements; all semester / year mark sheets; qualifying degree or Provisional Certificate; Transfer / Migration / College Leaving Certificate; Conduct Certificate; Community Certificate (SC/ST); Admission Letter and fee receipt; four passport-size photographs; affidavits by student and parent on Rs. 200 stamp paper; Software Usage Policy affidavit; Physical Fitness Certificate; and completed Student Profile.
