INTRODUCTION

“The Bachelor of Design also referred as B.Des or B.Design is an undergraduate academic degree deals with creating products that are functionally good, aesthetically appealing and ergonomically comfortable. World Design Organization defines industrial design as a strategic problem-solving process that drives innovation, builds business success, and leads to a better quality of life through innovative products, systems, services, and experiences”.

VIT School of Design (V-SIGN) offers one of the best facilities for design research, consultancy, training and growth for faculty members. The main objective of the programmes is to create a new breed of problem solvers in the domain of industrial design.

Already state-of-the-art studio / lab facilities have been created in a sprawling new building for teaching, training, model-making, prototyping, and experimenting. PROTICS Studio (PROduct aestheTICS), 3D-iD Studio with 30 iMacs, Smart PD Lab, Ergonomics Lab, and Painting Booth are some more facilities already established.

Our programmes would encourage contemporary design thinking and would give a wider perspective to the thoughts and ideas of tomorrow. Our programmes aim at developing skills, knowledge and aptitude among students so that they can bring about innovation in the product manufacturing industry. The students are trained to approach product design from a holistic viewpoint – integrating the aesthetics, ergonomics, and engineering in a balanced and harmonious manner.

Selection is based on qualified UCEED score/V-DAT(Design Aptitude Test)score with 10+2/HSC marks in the qualifying examination.

VIT-DAT (VIT-Design Aptitude Test)

VIT DAT is the exam for the candidates who have not attended UCEED exams or not having UCEED score.

Qualifying Examination
  • The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized Central/ State Board, such as the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi; Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations or any other Board accepted by VIT as equivalent to 10+2 examination.
  • Intermediate or two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University.
  • General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge) at the Advanced (A) level.
  • High School Certificate Examination at the Advanced (A) level of the Cambridge University/Pearson Edexcel regulated by UK.
  • High School Certificate Examination of the International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.
  • Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with minimum of 5 subjects as recognized by central board.
  • Candidates who have appeared for multiple board examinations in the same academic year are not eligible.
Eligibility in the Qualifying Examination
  • A pass with minimum overall aggregate of 60% in any stream in the qualifying examination. Candidates with qualified UCEED score/V-DAT are only eligible for Admission
  • In case, applicants belong to SC/ST community or hail from Jammu and Kashmir/ Ladakh and the North Eastern States of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura, 10% relaxation is provided.
  • Certificate to prove Community / Nativity should be produced at the time of counselling, failing which will not be considered for admission.

How To Apply ?

Steps to be followed for online application

Step 1

Register yourself by clicking on "Sign Up" (New applicant)

Step 2

Verify your registered email address by using the OTP received from VIT.

Step 3

Once OTP is validated, a password will be sent to your registered email address. Keep this email ID and password secure until the admission process is complete.

Step 4

Fill out the online application form with required information. The list of Boards along with respective code is listed out in the Prospectus. The Board code of study in the qualifying examination should be mentioned accurately. In case of any discrepancy in the board filling on the application form and submission of relevant document at the time of admission will lead to cancellation of admission.

Pay the non-refundable application fee of Rs.1350 using Net banking, Debit card and Credit card

Upload Age proof certificate, 12th Mark sheet, UCEED score card

  • A rank list is prepared on the basis of 10+2/HSC marks and UCEED score/ VIT-DAT score (VIT-Design Apptitude Test ).
  • The admission will be based on the merit and subject to meeting the required eligibility creteria.

  • All copies of documents will be archived and will not be returned for any reason.

  • The candidate should submit the qualifying mark statement from the board studied as mentioned in the application form for verification of genuineness at the time of admission. In case of submission of any fraudulent, incompetent certificate by the applicant will lead to action and the admission accorded will be duly cancelled and no refund will be initiated.

  • The qualifying examination mark statement submitted will be verified with the respective board.

Withdrawal Procedure

  • Candidates should give request for withdrawal only through online.

  • Exit formalities to be completed.

  • Date of application for withdrawal is the date of submitting clearance form(NO DUES FORM) through online.

Refund of Fees

  • The policy announced by AICTE / UGC, will be adopted, as and when announced.
